What would everyone be doing now if it wasn't for this nightmare?
I would have been in Nouméa again, drinking champagne on the beach of Îlot Canard inbetween snorkelling sorties and watching the sunsets sipping coughtails with friends at the Chateau Royale before dinner at one of many amazing restaurants which cater more to locals than tourists.
On the bright side, I have a new dishwasher instead.
A year without travel is going to pay for a lot of home improvements.
None of them look quite this good, though or be this much fun
.

I would have been due to to be home now after 13 weeks away, so that's no change. But - I was due to shoot through to France, Spain and Chad in mid-September until the end of October. That's not happening.

Instead, now gearing up to start in a couple of weeks, 2-3 weeks out bush in the WA Murchison and Gascoyne (Gascoyne Murchison | Western Australia) and probably a swing back through the Goldfields (Kalgoorlie and Goldfields | Australia's Golden Outback) to again harass my son.

To be preceded by a weekend at Pemberton (https://www.westernaustralia.com/en/Destination/Pemberton/56b266c4aeeeaaf773cf965f) in the lower SW the weekend after next and followed by a few days at Kalbarri (https://www.kalbarri.org.au/) in late September/early October.

Have to keep moving one way or the other. 😜

Sadly without a companion from SA. I've given up all hope now (of travelling to WA before Christmas not all hope completely :p )

Well, I would not have been anywhere, but my son who lives in Dubai and his lovely British girlfriend would have been here with us for a very much looked forward to visit home. Who knows when that will ever happen.

My Qantas App just told me that it was time to check in for our CX flight from Rome, meaning that shortly we would be in Hong Kong F Lounge. Sigh.

These Brits like our Aussie lads hey?

I was to be heading to Italy this weekend, but alas, that went out the door some time ago. However, I have just booked for Cocos Islands towards the end of September, so yippee!...I will get a flight to somewhere this year!

Actually really looking forward to getting some sun, sea and sand, finished off with relaxation and a drink or two!

Yes they certainly do! Did your son get his biometrics sorted?

Today we we would have been just starting a month long trip to Europe. Flying QF J to SIN and then Finnair J. This included a flightto Frankfurt andreturning from Dusseldorf via Helsinki to Sin. We hadn't booked the last leg SIN - PER before everything fell apart. The family reunion we were going to attend in Berlin has been postponed for a year but who knows if we will be able to attend even then.

We will be missing out on catching up with a number of friends, steam trains in the Harz Mts in Germany and the Long Night of Museums in Berlin. But at least we only lost $80 because of thew cancellations so we are much better off than many people.

At least, I assume because we booked on a Finnair ticket, we missed out on the bitter irony of a QF message telling us to prepare for our flight.

We are flying to Perth today.QF J of course.
Spend the next 3 nights in the new Art hotel.
SPOILER ALERT: I’m enjoying following the posts on this thread “Where would you be now .... ?“ (and due to COVID restrictions, we are not there now, of course). 😀

Do we all get that? Keep reeling us in, drron. 😉

Edit: I will have to check my itinerary, but I think that I just arrived in Portland, Maine. Now to look for a good lobster meal.

You doing the wildflowers too? After the good winter this year there are some areas that are quite stunning.
Will only be looking for terrestial orchids in the South west.
Though one that I was looking forward to see won't be there thanks to the Department of Biodiversity,Conservation and attractions.

Bugger bugger bugger! How very dare they! Still, there are plenty of other decent bloomers down there atm.

Tonight we would have been at Mantra Sydney domestic terminal, in preparation for our morning flight to HBA tomorrow for our Anniversary weekend.
Picking up new car instead....

I just rechecked my itinerary to see where I am at the moment. I can’t tell one day from another. Lucky that I kept the itinerary.

I actually spent the previous night at the TWA Hotel, JFK. Then, after check-out, and visiting the Flagship Lounge in Terminal 8, boarded AA flight JFK-ORD to connect with QF86 ORD-BNE. Will be arriving home on Friday morning.

Where did that month go?
