What would everyone be doing now if it wasn't for this nightmare?
I would have been in Nouméa again, drinking champagne on the beach of Îlot Canard inbetween snorkelling sorties and watching the sunsets sipping coughtails with friends at the Chateau Royale before dinner at one of many amazing restaurants which cater more to locals than tourists.
On the bright side, I have a new dishwasher instead.
A year without travel is going to pay for a lot of home improvements.
None of them look quite this good, though or be this much fun
.

I'm About to change our awards SYD-SIN-BKK-BNE at Christmas to August next year.SQ has extended the free changes until the end of the year.

I would be just arriving in Paris now, on Finnair, having flow CBR-MEL-SIN-HEL-CDG and pocketing a handy 540 SC. Over the next couple of days, I would be celebrating a very special birthday with my best friend from high school, and then seeing my son on the way home again, and another 540 SC in the bank. Feeling a bit sad about missing this special trip.

Today is our 25th wedding anniversary. We should be in a rainforest lodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon. After our Galápagos cruise last week...
We optimistically made plan B - a beach break on Hamilton Island.
But, we live in Sydney, and have been deemed a covid risk by Queensland (patently ridiculous)
So, we turned to plan C. We are currently having a city break in a trendy (non Covid) hotel in Sydney. Heading out for a swanky slap up dinner tonight.

What about the Hydro Majestic in the Blue Mountains. Spar suite with Champagne and chocolate strawberries?

Thanks, but already happily ensconced in our city hotel suite.
I do love the Hydro (can’t beat nose views)
Congrats on your anniversary and may the next 25 years be even better. They actually tend to be better.

We would be in LA waiting to fly home with SQ after spending the past 3-4 weeks in Canada on both the east and west sides. Instead we spent today at The Cube in the Mclaren Vale.

Make a promise to yourself to that exact same adventure for your 30th anniversary. Probably me minimum 22022/2023 before you could in theory do it anyway.

You can always do a virtual tour!
Took my eldest boy there 2 years ago, so still got the memories. This time was going to middle boys turn. Alas it'll have to wait.

I should be in Turkey, maybe in the Black Sea coast in an AirBnb visiting friends and trying to impress them with my newly acquired Turkish cooking (YouTube) and language (online Zoom class + Babbel) skills. 🙏😢

Tomorrow we will be flying to Sydney to see the grandkids before our big trip starting off with BA F SYD-SIN.
