What would everyone be doing now if it wasn't for this nightmare?
I would have been in Nouméa again, drinking champagne on the beach of Îlot Canard inbetween snorkelling sorties and watching the sunsets sipping coughtails with friends at the Chateau Royale before dinner at one of many amazing restaurants which cater more to locals than tourists.
On the bright side, I have a new dishwasher instead.
A year without travel is going to pay for a lot of home improvements.
None of them look quite this good, though or be this much fun
.

Tomorrow we will be flying to Sydney to see the grandkids before our big trip starting off with BA F SYD-SIN.
Time flies. It only seems like yesterday when we bumped into each other in the QF F lounge and we were discussing your trip to CA, that was around a year ago. In the end we did book a trip to PEI however Covid put a stop to that, MrsM is now working on a new date when we can get to Anne’s Cottage.

MrsM is now working on a new date when we can get to Anne’s Cottage. - As am I :(

And today we are flying SIN-NRT in JAL J and staying overnight at HND.

Was supposed to have been in Italy a couple of weeks ago. But also, not possible. Went to Cocos islands instead. Very beautiful and relaxing. Not much to do except lie around on braces and snorkel. But that suited me fine

I had 3 Italy trips booked over the next 6 weeks, all will be cancelled now. They're on the UK's naughty list as of Thursday just gone (so 2 weeks self-iso on return) but also require UK travellers to have a -ve PCR test done prior to travel, or on arrival and then quarantine until results are in. Cost prohibitive to do and doesn't work for 4 day trips.

We are currently enjoying the great service in JAL F HND-LHR.

Looking forward to catching up with you both in the next few days.

I thought we were having dinner tonight. ;)

I’ve just arrived home after my excellent visit to Paris, Vienna, Helsinki and points in between. I celebrated the 60th birthday of my friend of 50 years, saw my son who popped over to Europe from the UAE to meet me, practiced my German, added a new city, country and airline to my experience, exceeded my required 4 flights and got 1080 SC to retain my QF WP. Still a few SC short, but will easily cover those with my J trip to Japan in January and the usual end of year work travel rush. Oh and got home to find that my daughter-in-law had delivered my first grandchild, so raced to the hospital for a cuddle. Only 1 of those things happened. D-I-L did have the baby, but due to COVID rules in the ACT hotspot (no cases for 102 days) no one is allowed to visit. 2020 just keeps on giving.

Today we have flown LHR-MAD then picking up a car for a derive through Southern Spain and France ending up in Monaco.

You even both survived my cooking, hoorah!

Ah, Monaco, the place I've had a trip booked twice to this year and both have fallen through. 3rd time lucky next year......

Today I would have been at the USAF museum having a look at the XB-70. One of those bucket list things.

I've tossed that entire bucket out....
If and whenever I get to the USA, maybe 2027 (3/4 of kids finished school then), one of my stops will definately be USAF Museum, and yes the XB-70 is top of my list. Next big trip fingers crossed in Europe July 2022, Normandy landing beaches + various motorsport museums and events.

Never say say never jb!

Tell you a cool place closer to home, Yogyakarta has the Indonesian Air Force Museum. Not well known outside locals, place was awesome to visit and a number of planes on display including a Badger and a Zero. Visited there August last year.
