Specifically via eftpos.

Does anyonr know which card you can pay via eftpos at australia post ?

So far i know of
Amex
Hsbc

I believe you need a physical bill with a barcode on it

It can actually depend on the biller. Some specifically do not permit certain type of Card to be used.

Generally with AusPost specific (e.g. stock) purchases, all methods of payment are permissible.

Apologies i think ive worded it poorly

When paying off your monthly balance, i am looking to go to aus post store and pay by eftpos
So they need a bill with barcode attached to it

I can't see a barcode on my Citi Premier bill but here's what it says about Aus Post:

hmmmm thats interesting thanks,
one of my family members has that card, and I swear it had no Aust post payment options on it, will need to look again

edit: just googled Bank@post, it looks like EFTPOS is not posssible only cash/cheques
"Only cash or cheques are accepted for Bank@Post deposit transactions."

Asking/posting here as it is somewhat related.

Has Australia Post stopped accepting "gift cards" to pay bills?

I just tried to pay my Vic rego using a $500 EFTPOS gift card bought during a recent WOW promo. Split tx was not a problem but was prevented from doing so because "we don't accept "any gift cards" for payment of bills", even though the system would accept it. This would seem to include the Vanilla Visa/MC type too. When pressed, the agent said that bank eftpos cards are fine but because the system isn't smart enough to tell the difference between gift and bank cards, "staff would get in trouble".

I've been paying bills like this for ages.

Its variable. Some no longer work (westfield reds, myperfect) but others are ok. I never mention its a giftcard as some AP staff won't let you

I thought you couldnt do this any more. There was a long classic (well I thought so anyway) thread that dealt with this when you could. Would be pleased to be DMd if there is a current way

Westfields too? That must be very new as I used one to pay Origin bill in June or July. Not sure how it came up as a giftcard tbh. I just said $500 on the first card please.......

I've not been able to in multiple locations for over 9 months. Maybe it is machine-dependent. The reduction in maximum load was making it less lucrative anyway

Staff said it will go through, ie the system allows use of the EFTPOS GC, but they won't/not allowed to do it.

Not sure if I'll bother testing other outlets.

This has been around for a long time IME and as others have said it varies between stores. My plan of attack when I started going down the EFTPOS GC path was to find a smaller post office and not bring any attention to what I was doing, make the transaction completely boring/standard. Once I found a post office that had no issues I haven't been anywhere else, now the proprietor known exactly what I need when I come in and is ready for my $500 split payments, I just tell him the total.

As you rightly point out the terminals are fully capable of accepting them it's that some outlets don't like to accept them for whatever reason.
