Re: Recommendations for a HK Lounge

Pier J is the newest and best CX lounge in terms of facilities. if your flight is in the neighbourhood no need to visit any others.

For others to find, The Pier J and F lounges are at gate 65. Just follow the signs. I was very comfortable in The Pier. Didn't bother with any of the others.

I'll be here on August 16 (my birthday). Flight will arrive before 5am. If I'm reading things correctly none of the CX lounges open until 5.30 am and Qantas lounge does not open until 9.30 am. Can anyone confirm this? Any suggestions of how to fill in up to 40 mins before the lounges open?

For those of you interested; I would definitely do The Pier and The Bridge again. I would give The Wing a miss.

Have attached a little map that I was given for directions.

The QF lounge was pretty good too. It's located above gate 15.

Depends whether you mean Wing J or Wing F. I didnt like the J lounge but found the F far better (especially the cabanas), plus they have a dining room and a decent self serve selection.
On the other hand, I like the Pier J better than the F. I find the F dining menu a bit meh compared with the J lounge noodle bar, and the overall colour scheme and size of the lounge lacking compared with the J lounge.

We had a long stopover in HKG last night (26/8) and with the threat of Typhoon Pakhar delaying or cancelling our next leg had a quiet one or two in the Pier (J). I have nothing but praise for our experience (ok the barman was not very friendly) but the overall experience was excellent. Food was good but the shower was better. It was like having your own hotel room for the night and you feel more refreshed for the upcoming flght.

I didnt experience any other lounges but thanks to this forum we were able to pinpoint the Pier. It was nice that our HKG - ROM flight left from gate 64 which is right next door.

Point taken. I didn't care for the food on the Wing F dining room menu. I did enjoy the buffet (esp. smoked salmon & halibut) and the DIY caesar salad. Sushi was OK too.

The Wing J was terrible - super crowded and lacked food options. Didn't feel relaxing at all.

I'm doing my first hk J lounge crawl tonight. The plan is to visit 3 to 5 lounges - the pier, QF lounge, cabin and maybe bridge. The wing if time permits. My flight to SFO leaves at 1am.

Someone please roll me into my flight...;)

So excited!
