Which first class?

I am with velocity. Already maintained platinum for this review period so no real worry there.
Going for the best rather than worrying about FF points/status.

Nice position to be in !! :) Can't comment much further having only done F with QF & BA - Let us know how it turns out.

I am leaning towards a mix of EK/QF at this stage. As i get to a) shower. b) try out two products.
Although SQ is looking better and better.

I can then use points to try out EY first at a later date.

sq/LH beats a shower on board. you can always do EK to akl if you want a shower:)

If you are able to fly the return leg from FRA, then flying LH is a no brainer. They have a superb hard product, and the First Class Terminal is really special. Love the car transfer from the lounge to the plane! Given a choice of any F product, its hard for me to go past SQ, although LH, CX and EK are all good for different reasons as well. I know there are a lot of QF F lovers here, but I've never been compelled to pay dollars for it, and would only fly on upgrades or the odd FASA in days gone by. However, I've gladly forked over good money for F on SQ, LH and CX in the past and have never been disappointed. I can thank my wife and her EK redemptions for our F experiences on the a380, although apart from the shower suite, I'm not sure I would pay to fly them over the other alternatives.

OK I thought about this, I've only flown a handful of F's (QF, SQ non-suites, KE, OZ, TG, LH, CX)

If money and time was no object, a trip to Europe (assuming a departure out of SYD) would consist of this.....

SYD-HKG QF F 380
HKG-SIN CX F 77W
SIN-LON SQ R 380
FRA-BKK LH F 380
BKK-SYD TG F 744

Then there's a few airlines I missed that I would gladly fly as well, EK, OZ, KE, any carrier with F A380.

Too many choices :D

No one has really addressed the on the ground facilities offered by the airlines.
With EY having 6am departure. their limousine service is most welcome as is the meet and greet and then limo service of any airline on arrival after a 20 or more hour service to an airport you haven't been to before.
Not to mention preferential treatment through customs and imm-(em)-igration.

Some of my suggestions above do touch on the idea of the exceptional ground service offered eg LH F ex-FRA would involve being able to access the First Class Terminal, it's not a lounge but an entire terminal dedicated to F and uber-tiered-LH frequent flyers. Apart from the personal assistant, a-la carte restaurant, massive bar with 100 different whiskies, the cigar lounge ..... access to the Porsche 4hour drives (think 911's) .... you also get the limousine ride where you are driven on the tarmac from the FCT directly to your plane.

TG F ex-BKK would involve the porter who assists your baggage, dedicated seated check-in lounge, exclusive security & immigration, buggy ride to the lounge, ala carte restaurant, the complimentary spa/massage treatment in a hotel quality spa, personal assistant to the plane etc.

You forgot the bath with the LH F duck ;)

I flew last May SQ F suites - SYD - SIN - ZHR - SIN - SYD
Loved the privacy of the suite - actually had 2 suites each leg, 1 for sitting in, and another made up for just sleeping in.
The only things I could see that would improve SQ is them installing showers on board, and their PJ,s a bit more durable.
Exceptional service on the ground at SIN. Offered use of " Private " lounge at Changi (can post pics if anyone interested)

I was the only pax on the ZHR - SIN leg, poor staff were getting bored, as I don't drink (OK, I had 3 sips of the Krug) and sleep 80% of my flights.

I would choose any airline that has private suites - no one needs to see me "catching flies" while I sleep.

This does raise an interesting point. I am leaning towards a qf/ek mix at the moment. Mainly due to the fact that the flight would likely bolster up my points enough to secure a trip in J to Europe next year.

Although the departing times seem a bit strange to me. Especially if doing a QF/EK mix the layovers can be a bit extreme. 7 hours in the case of QF1 and QF8001 or 14 if i use QF8003. Does anyone know if they would organise a hotel for me if i went for the 14?

What is the best way to do the return trip? Aim to arrive early morning or late night?

No one is rushing towards MH .......

maybe because this thread started out as a 'which is the best first class?'... and MH isn't on any of the lists (I mean it's fine but not that great)

now the question has done a 180 and is about the first class that will earn QFFF points rather than which is the best (and with the exception of CX they are somewhat mutually exclusive)

Not really a 180, more 30 degrees. There were a lot of suggestions for both Emirates and QF. Didn't want to make a new thread.

MH probably shouldn't be mentioned because it does not run a first class from Australia. Well to from Sydney anyway

Is the OP going to pay cash for these fares ? If so then booking two one ways is a costly idea.
