Which first class?

Although the departing times seem a bit strange to me. Especially if doing a QF/EK mix the layovers can be a bit extreme. 7 hours in the case of QF1 and QF8001 or 14 if i use QF8003. Does anyone know if they would organise a hotel for me if i went for the 14?

No. The rules for providing a hotel room in a long layover at Dubai mean you must be connecting onto the next available flight to your destination. However, a room will be provided for a 7 hour layover if flying in F.

I suppose it would depend on which city you were flying from. We can't fly internationally from Perth with Qantas any more unless we go to Sydney or Brisbane. And though we have only flown QF first class once, ( from Perth to Sydney domestic and then onto San Francisco - an upgrade from Business using points - it was fantastic. We enjoyed the extra size of seats when made into beds, the doona and full sized pillow and soft pyjamas ( eat your heart out Bob Carr!). Would we pay the extra against Business? I doubt it but it was worth experiencing. We do use Qatar from Perth. Their BC is fantastic (so FC would probably be as well) - the lounge in Doha is an experience in itself - excellent service, food and best BC price. We used Emirates BC to Europe a year ago and the return trip was dreadful. Three seats in the middle row !! - yes BC. Shocking service - we landed before we had finished our dessert - the service was so slow - probably because they had packed too many people in the cabin. Not sure what their FC would be like in comparison but we won't fly with them again. Malaysian was also excellent but I wonder if their planes fly empty at present?
