Which is the best airline to fly from Australia to Bali?

Thanks @AustraliaPoochie , good transfer T3 to T1 last weekend had 3.5 hours, took about 1.5

As long as everything runs to time and e-gates not having a hissy fit, we should be OK with 2 hours, 25 mins 🤞

We arrive T1 QF J, 6.05 am
Same PNR next flight T3 8.30am QF J
Plan on taking the "seamless" Qantas transfer bus.
Worse case scenario, it is good to know there are 36 Syd- Mel flights on Friday !
I often have transfers such as this booked - and often miss them with a slight inbound delay. They simply rip up your boarding pass at the transfer desk and put you on the next available flight. Usually painless!

Loads appear absolutely terrible. Can’t see this lasting unless they are getting heavily subsidised.
I had a quick look at prices after I posted just to scratch my curiosity. Looks like around $1k return is the norm. Shame really.

That is a bit tight, but at least there would be the opportunity to get later flights from SYD to your home state.
If later on in the day, I would be worried for that short a connection.
But the T1 staff would be able to put you onto a later flight, if you miss the onwards 8.30am flight.
As you are in incoming J, keep the BP, as you will have access to the QF J lounge in T3, just have to show your international BP on/for that same day.

Surely the whole vibe of Bali as a destination since the 80's meets the vibe of Jetstar?
Both Bali and Jetstar are totally about the drunken bogans, so Jetstar HAS to be it?
Yeah. I agree with some of that, but not totally bogan. I got away from the bogans at the Conrad and Hilton on two trips to Bali (and not flying Jetstar 🤣)

If its late, plead with the T1 transfer desk not to rip up the incoming BP, as if the incoming flight is in J, that "old" BP allows J lounge access for the next flight.

I take it you haven't been to Bali?
Sure there are Bogan elements in some parts but it’s a big island and plenty of great places where you can get away from the crowds, see so,e stunning scenery and stay in luxury. Unfortunately it’s only the bogan element that many people see
I’m sure if you know what you’re doing & hunt it out, you can avoid what Bali is & what Bali is all about.

But surely going somewhere to do something counter to what it specialises in & focuses on is a tad pointless?

It comes across as you're views are from a place of ignorance.

MH are fine but out of PER only one of the flights is on the A330, the day flight is on the 737
Indeed .but the 330 is at 02.10am..and rarely runs on time. At least the 737 is at a decent time of the day.

True, I guess it depend on if you want to stay a night in KL and fly to DPS the next day or sleep on the aircraft, have a shower In the lounge and transit straight through to DPS

I've always wondered why MH has this flight at such an ungodly hour. If they ran it at a normal time they could also compete on connections to SIN and elsewhere.

As I understand it, the 737 isn't daily either.

I flew VA to Bali again last week and discovered they’ve reintroduced pilllows, blankets and amenity kits in J. Personally, I’d rather lounge access. Because I always have a 2-5 hour domestic to international transfer, it’s still a major gripe.

It’s a fun flight on the way to Denpasar. The J cabin always seems a bit like a party. Everyone’s just started their holidays and they’re in great spirits (imbibing them too).

Thanks always keep paper BP's, and am SG also @AustraliaPoochie

This was the latest flight QF would put us on, other flights offered were only 60-90 minutes after arrival.
And we are paying top dollar🤭

Yea that is the decision. However sometimes getting to the airport, checking in etc, security and lounge for a 2.10am departure, which ends up 3.30am plus waiting time for connection is not as palatable as an afternoon flight, transit hotel at KUL and early departure to destination. Just as Daver6 mentions: departure in line with SQ as example would be rather better.

Usually, the staff on the ground have a lot more leeway, than the online booking system.
Got onto the last flight SYD - ADL, coming off EK CHC - SYD, they were always able to slot me in with a BP, when the outsourced check in couldnt print one out for me at CHC airport.
Also overnighted to come back, several times too at the Ibis Budget Sydney Airport.
One time, I couldnt do OLCI on a ADL - MEL QFd flight, it said to check in at airport.
And we all know, that they want us to use the app, which I did try, to no success.
And now the standalone post check in system now can no longer be done, at the QF terminals, as they have been removed, eh?
So, I went to the counter, explained to the lady that I had tried to do OLCI, but got that message to check in at the airport, she happily printed off a BP for me.
Coming off flights from NZ direct to ADL, esp via SYD/MEL/BNE, they always leave a very short gap, so what I do, is to book the QFd flights, from the east coast to ADL separately, or even the next morning.
Have called the Ibis Budget Melbourne and Sydney Airports home many times.
Also, going over to NZ, the time allowed to get from T3 to T1, pre covid, I used to fly the EK J/F many times to CHC, and overnighted SYD.
EK used to do the MEL - AKL with the F, also transitted MEL many times to get the 380 across, got to try the EK lounge and the QFi F lounge once or twice I think.
Curfew off at 6am for ADL, so not enough time to get meet the EK flight to AKL.
Sorry for the waffly.

If you have to connect, fly through the Gold Coast then will have lounge access. But yes agree they need to get it back!

I was hoping to connect via Adelaide for that reason, but apparently direct Hobart to Adelaide flights are “seasonal” and don’t happen when Tasmanians need to escape our vitamin D-deficient winter land. No direct flights to the Gold Coast either I believe.
