Which PJs in the sky

I have been in both first and business when they have 'run out' of pyjamas. Most annoying! For that reason I bring my own which can be from another airline, or whatever I have available at the time. I want to be comfortable : and that is number one priority to me. If I don't use the pj's given out, I give away and many happy people have received. Wonder what the etiquette is of picking up other unopened pj's left on seats as you leave the plane? (wink, wink!) Must admit to having thought about it as I know a couple of people who are really happy when I give them airline pj's!!

Yes, I am surprised how many people go to toilet in bare feet : but that is their choice. For this reason I bring thongs (nice ones : ha ha!) that I have handy all the time to slip on to go to the bathroom. :)

Oh, and I bring the thongs in a shoe bag in my carry on. :)

But those people would probably never even think of walking into a public bathroom barefoot but it's somehow okay on an airplane.

oh, and more recently I have taken to getting on the plane early and changing as soon as I can before take off. If there is an emergency and I have to get off? C'est la vie!

I generally change into them after the meal service, and out of them after the second meal service. I was surprised that when flying in J Class back from BKK-SYD on EK in January (on a flight that had been delayed for over 6 hours) there were no pyjamas offered. I happily pulled out my QF F Class PJs from my carry-on and wore them. I still have 14 sets from QF that have never been worn :)

Will I get a set when I fly F SYD-HKG later in the year even though it's a day flight?

My faves were the BA F PJs, royal blue with a discreet logo on the pocket. Discreet enough for me to happily wear on other carriers. But I recently got some excellent VA PJs in J with the VA logo on a tag down the side, so I'll happily wear them from now on. FWIW, like others I change after take-off and back into civvies before the pre-landing bathroom rush.

And I do love it when slippers are provided but the advice about using the hotel slippers is excellent.

As I usually fly SIA J, I generally wear my QF ones and always let the cabin crew know that it would be great if Singapore had their own so that I could wear their's.

If I'm on a short night sector eg SIN-SYD or LHR-DXB I will change as soon as I board if I plan on declining the meal service and going straight to sleep.
If I am going to have something to eat and drink I will change after the seat belt sign goes off.
I agree with your sentiment. If I have to evacuate ASAP I won't care what I'm wearing as long as it's something :)

Grrr. I assume their is a gnu typist preparing the newsletter. I was reeding the first article inn this thread. Hear's a hot flash. Spell check does knot correct errors in spelling, grammar or comprehension. Eye suspect the typee is under 40 and missed the hole subject.

I was told by a FA in QF A380 F a couple of years ago that once a woman stripped naked in the F cabin to don her PJs . I seem to recall that there was a suggestion the person was not nubile (perhaps as one might expect ) but I didn't seek any more details.

WTF???
That's either exhibitionism or mental illness. Either way, I wouldn't be too impressed if she did it on my flight lol!!!

I'm so glad this post has come up because I've been agonising over how to organise clothing for a trip to Barbados from Perth I have coming up in June. It's a pretty long period of travel each way (for 2 days training), I'll be away 7 days all up. Too much travel time to be looking smart at the expense of comfort! Not that I'd usually choose style over comfort I suppose lol. Flying CX J (thank god) PER - HKG - LAX then 23 hour layover, then AA J LAX - MIA - BGI... and all the way back again three days later.

Oh, and funny footwear story for everyone... I grew up travelling between UK and USA all the time so since I was a little kid I have had the habit of putting on the airline socks to travel in and wander round the plane in those. I usually carry a pair of thick socks in case they don't give them out. A few years ago hubby and I travelled to Hong Kong with CX in Y and for some odd reason I had my shoes on still. Very odd for me! I was tired and stepped into the toilet... into over a centimetre of urine all over the whole floor.

The gods were looking after me that day, let me tell you. Now I take thongs or slippers like everyone else :)

You'd never say never, you know.

It could have been Miranda K (on QF) !

nb: I am dreaming

I've never had that situation (and I'm rather surprised about its occurrence on CX) however I always look before I leap! (and put my shoes on to go to the loo).

I had cause to reflect on the state of the floor-v- my (qfj) socks .. recently..
I placated my inner health alarms with the the observation that most of the stuff on the floor was probably …..water.
It's fairly hard to actually pee on the floor.. but bloody easy to splash a lot of water everywhere when attempting to clean one's hands in that teaspoon they call a sink.
Anyway .. a fun and useful thread..note to self .. keep a pair of those coughpy hotel flip flops for the journey home.

It's not just the toilets that require foot wear... A poor woman was feeling unwell on a recent trip I was on in F and she rushed through the curtains to 'unload' but the toilets were occupied. She said she was going to be sick so I bolted to try and find a spew bag but instead found a flight attendant who rushed to assist. The ill woman started puking but there was not a paper bag to be seen. Fortunately (?) the sleep portion of the trip was over and some of the First sheets and bedding were lying around waiting to be tidied up so the attendant used a sheet as the receptacle for the chunder. Of course, plenty spilled onto the floor and had to be cleaned up by some poor crew members. Later in the flight a gentleman was wandering around in bare feet and walking on the patch of previously vomitised carpet - a crew member indicated that patch of carpet had been 'soiled' and suggested he remain clear, though the nature of the soiling was not revealed. The attendant and I exchanged a knowing look!

You have been warned :)
