I prefer to wait until after the meal service to change.

I don't think I'd wear them in the Y cabin - feel like a bit of a 'tosser'.

I don't mind being a tosser in Y, helps me to fit in. I recently wore QF F PJs MEL-LAX (upper Y cabin of course!). Much more comfortable than being in jeans and shirt the whole time.

Robd

I'm with dede, preferring to be comfortable whatever cabin I happen to be in.

That means wearing F/J PJs in Y/PE.

There is no reason why it should not be done.

It's not a mark of snob, rather a nod to comfort (and frequent flying).

Wearing PJ's greatly increases sleep quality, and also means you're putting on (effectively) fresh clothes before disembarking.

I have no hesitation in wearing another carriers PJs on carriers that do not provide their own PJs.

Exception is Swiss, where coming out in our PJs was generally received by the cabin pretty much in the same way as if we'd emerged naked. But since we'll never fly Swiss again (for other reasons), it matters not.

Agree with the suggestion about the "loungeroom" on Qantas being turned into a change room to put your PJs on

Back from LA and I noted numerous "trendy"/"hipster" chicks dressed onesies(animal costumes) ie. frog, cat blah blah PJ's in waiting area before boarding!!

I usually sleep au natural, so don't think the pax would be too impressed... on a serious note, seatbelt light off, trip to the smallest room to get in & comfy - I prefer trackie dacs & loose t-shirt, then the return journey before breakfast service with a "pommie shower" and change into take-off clothing - always land refreshed and ready

I too prefer to dine in my street clothes before settling in for the night after the first meal service. Wearing another carriers PJs (Thai) makes for light banter with the flight attendants

Haven't ever given thought to PJ's on flights actually, hubby tends to wear trackies and tshirt, son wears tshirt and comfy shorts, and I wear tshirt with leggings (leggings are pretty much like pj's anyway), then we change prior to breaky & landing. Nice and comfy, and fresh clothes for the new day also.
We have only just started to fly international flights (prem econ only so far), and we have just started to fly business for domestic flights (we're spoilt now and only want to fly that way for the longhaul domestic flights!) - I am looking forward to the day we get our first set of airline pj's - you should have seen how excited we were with our first vanity bag on the international flight, and then our virgin vanity bag on our first business flight - all those nice little perks.
Back to the pj's - fly in what you want to, everyone wants to be comfy for those long flights.

I like the idea of being comfortable on a long flight, but I'm rather worried by the scenario of a major emergency, such as going into the Hudson River in your PJs. ;)

Wonderful idea. In future I will be in my PJs when going to the airport. I hope that my fellow passengers in steerage will not mind.

I think fly in whatever makes you comfortable, regardless of Cabin Class or brand of PJ's. I am concerned enough about major emergencies to leave my shoes and street clothes on during take off and landing. Think Broken Glass / Burning Debris!

I am sorry but precisely which "idea" you are referring to ?

IIRC there is nobody suggesting that PJs should be worn outside the plane, regardless of what cabin you happen to be in.

In those aircraft where there is a bar or lounge area, are PJs okay? The promo shots from the airlines only show glamazons wearing designer gear, not jet lagged zombies in slob wear.

My daughter changes into them as soon as she hits the cabin.

I do the change over after take-off and I only ever wear the top....

OT - I'm amazed how many people enter the toilet in bare feet......YUCK!

I'm a stickler for putting shoes on before heading anywhere near a sticky floor...

Yes, I am surprised how many people go to toilet in bare feet : but that is their choice. For this reason I bring thongs (nice ones : ha ha!) that I have handy all the time to slip on to go to the bathroom. :-)

Oh, and I bring the thongs in a shoe bag in my carry on. :-)
