Which route for RTW trip

Towards the end of next year or the following year we are planning to do a RTW trip from Brisbane and would like to include the following stopovers - Tokyo, Hoi Ann, Nairobi, Cuba and Nashville. First question, is this even possible and secondly, which order should it be done in please ? Hopefully someone can give us advice.

Are you aligned with one alliance ie OneWorld or Star Alliance or are you looking to just use any carrier?

Just some thoughts
- there are no direct flights from either HND or NRT to DAD so stopovers required
- To get out of HAV you would have to backtrack to the USA to get to NOB

You do know that a Qantas Oneworld Classic Flight reward doesn't actually need to be round the world.

I didn't know that , I just assumed that the best use of my points would be a RTW ticket. I will do my homework and check out the thread thanks.

Sort of. But there are some conditions. Have you managed to look at the link provided by Captain Halliday?

Edit: There are differences, including that travel must be in one direction, with no backtracking between continents. The fare is based on the number of continents visited (i.e., 3, 4 or 5) and the travel class. It’s been quite a few years since I did this (a DONE4) so there are probably some other differences

The 318k (business class 'RTW') award is the best. Highly recommended.

You could do a similar route, but the routing rules for the Oneworld Classic Flight Reward (on points) are quite different to the Oneworld Explorer (RTW cash fare).

This is what I need to find out. I will be booking by phone, so hopefully will get to speak to someone who is helpful and knows what they are doing. I did book a RTW on points quite a few years ago and the staff member got very frustrated with me, but we got there in the end and it was a fabulous trip. Hopefully I know what I am talking about when I book .

My post was actually intended for people who might read this thread in the future because you’ve use the specific acronym RTW in the thread title. This gives them the accurate information (at least for Oneworld). And as @DC3 points out the Oneworld Explorer must be paid in cash

If I was to provide any advice, then it would be this. Work out the proposed itinerary, including all of your flights, before contacting the Call Centre. Anyway, I would book this on-line and not go near the Call Centre. Do not expect anyone who is “helpful and knows what they are doing” on the phone. You may be lucky, but you may well become very frustrated, again.

By researching, you are able to come up with all of the flights, including options. Then, it’s a matter of reading out the flights/date/time should you decide to talk to the Call Centre. Researching for seat availability is the key.

I am actually hesitant to ask questions in this group, despite being a gold member for many years. I appreciate that I do not have the knowledge and experience that so many members have. I think it will be a while before I ask again.

Your fellow-AFFers are more than willing to assist. You should not be reluctant to ask for advice.

Initially, I found that it took a long time (months) to read up on the information that I needed in order to cobble flights into workable itineraries, whether paid or with points, and have always been thankful for advice provided on AFF. I would never have found this information on my own.
