Have been WP with Qantas only flying domestic Y for 3 years now. I do about 50 trips a year mainly BNE - PER in discount Y. Will take my first overseas flight with Qantas since 1980 in 4 weeks time

Please keep in touch and let us know how you go. :)

If you can - make sure you depart from either SYD or MEL and enjoy a few hours in the Flounge.

Last year I got to WP all in economy, this year I am about to re-qualify 4 months out thanks to a few JASA's earlier in the year (when they were easier to book!). No DSC here and about a 50/50 mix of Disc Y the full Y status credits due to lots of Qlink flights.

I fly the cheapest possible airfare domestically.

I do around 70 flights/year self funded which is enough to get me Gold status.

I then have another 3-4 Thailand trips where I treat myself to a few business class flights intra-Asia and this helps me maintain Platinum.

So not entirely economy travel but close....

Had two years of FIFO to Gladstone out of Brisbane. ~ 50 return flights per year. Most flights were discount Y @ 10SC. Friday return flights were sometimes 20SC's per flight. Only needed a renewal (1200SC) for WP. I wouldn't have made it if need to 1400 SC level.

Ex Brisbane via Sydney for QF1 arr Syd 1200 so hopefully plenty of time to enjoy the Flounge, although SWMBO is questioning the amount of time in Sydney hopefully she will understand after visiting the Flounge.

Yep, just made Platinum for the first time flying Y (and thanks to a well timed Double Status Credits offer), mostly domestic, but one trip to Europe and back. Hard work and don't think it'll happen again (wish me luck for another DSC next year!)

Congrats simon23! Never say never...see you on board soon. :)

90% plus is discount economy for me... just got my shiny black card and tags yesterday. 1 JQ bus max rtn to HKT and 1 mASA to AKL during a DSC... now I have over 1500SC, but won't get to the 2400 mark (reset on Aug 31)... would prefer additional SCs once over WP (when it's obvious that you will never get to WP1) rolled over...

I'd like to see this option for all status levels. i.e. you hit a certain level, you decide that you are not going to fly enough in the remainder of your year to hit the next level, so you make a once per membership year, non-reversible choice to roll over SCs to the next year. This can be as simple as a tick box, with confirmation screen in your FF profile. Once your membership year rolls over, the choice is available to you again.

Simples!!

CX allows this in MPC unofficially (although it does discourage people from staying loyal)
