Why doesn't the Qantas website work in Safari?

I'm not with Aussie Broadband. In any case, I've noticed this problem when connecting from many different internet providers and in different countries. I don't think it's that.
I have this issue with abc.net.au

I am not with Aussie

I was have that issue on my iPad but it seems to be ok at the moment. I used to empty cache and cookies etc.

I have a sneaking feeling that’s its the 2 factor authentication coughpIng itself and preventing the page to load.

Maybe this feature is building up a profile for the QF site, gradually choking up over a few uses requiring regular clearing of history/cookies to restore usage. I don't use safari as I am on MS-Windows on the Laptop and I use the app on IOS for mobile

Intelligent Tracking in macOS
Safari now uses machine learning to identify advertisers and others who track your online behavior, and removes the cross‑site tracking data they leave behind.

Is it just me, or does the Qantas website regularly fail to load in the Safari web browser?

It's been happening to me for months, and only in Safari - works fine in Google Chrome, etc.
I have exactly the same issue, Safari 13.1.1 on macOS Catalina 10.15.5, sometimes it works and sometimes the loading bar hangs half way forever.

There's no pattern to this, it can either work fine for the whole time I'm on the site, be working fine and then all of a sudden stop, or can just not work at all. Never have the same issue in Chrome or Firefox.

it very strange that so many people are having this issue. Most of my devices are Apple and I never have problems browsing in QF site in Safari.
Sometime back everything loaded nicely except the flight searches.

There’s a couple of different entry points into search - off the main page, via GV and here Flights | Qantas AU or multi-city Multi-city flights | Qantas AU

The first two usually worked while the second two were plenty more sporadic

Safari is becoming an outdated program and quiet a few websites don’t work on it. Chrome is the way to go these days. 😊

I have no issues with Safari on both QF and AFF sites across multiple devices.

I am wondering if it’s a DNS issue. I use Cloudflare DNS on all my devices as it’s super reliable, and very fast.
Suggest someone with the problem gives it a go (easiest is to change DNS in your home router to 1.1.1.1)

Not had any issues with Safari per se, but definitely PayPal and Telstra NBN.
That's helped with my PayPal issue and does appear to be much faster with website loading - thanks! :)

Bizarrely had a problem the past few days trying to book accommodation and flights on Chrome. Ended up with a hassle-free experience on MS Edge which was slightly unsettling as I'm not a fan of this browser.

Probably cookies, cache or extensions. If you never use Edge you've got a clean slate when using that browser.

Edge is based on the same open source codebase (Chromium) as Chrome.

Thanks for the reply - sounds like a clear history / cache procedure is required.

Sometimes the 2factor ID gets confused and you can’t move forward or back without clearing the cache. Fortunately it’s been pretty stable for me the last few months.

Safari has random days when it refuses to work with the Qantas site. Switch to Chrome no issues at all...

Any time you have issues with the QF site, I’d be inclined to blame QF IT as the first port of call. They are, after all, the mob who were ringing up pilots and telling them that they would be reported to their manager, because they were using their company iPad overseas (for flight planning), and who also put out a memo telling us not to use iPads to access one of the company sites, even though they’d given us iPads for that very use.

The motto is “Yesterday’s technology, tomorrow”

That says it all really...

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I have had endless trouble with the Qantas website also.

- Both Safari & Chrome more often then not won't load the Multi Booking page, the majority of the page loads but where you input your flight info doesn't load, I get the three loading dots endlessly bouncing away.

- The main page struggles in a similar way when I try select flight routing, as you all know when you select a departure point the menu opens up a little with more selections, but this often fails for me with both Safari & Chrome browsers.

I have tried all the usual fixes, clearing caches and cookies etc but still the pages won't load properly.

I push on and do endless refreshes until it loads properly, currently it takes 3-5 refreshes before the pages work but the process starts again if I want to look at different routing, dates etc....

Any I.T. gurus out there that can help?

I am just about to book a flight with Singapore Airlines rather then Qantas because there website actually works.

I am running Safari (version 15.5) and Chrome (Version 103.0.5060.114) on a MacBook Air running Big Sur 11.6.7

I would have suggested disabling any Chrome extensions (I have seen anti-tracking extensions like Ghostery stop the Qantas site working correctly) but you mention the issue carries across browsers, so that's unlikely to be the cause.

Do you have any antivirus software running? Or IPS/IDS/DNS filtering running either locally (e.g. Cisco Umbrella) or on your router?

FWIW I use Chrome 103 on macOS 11.6.7 without any problems, so while not your fault, it must be something specific to your environment..
