I have been enjoying this forum for some time, and it's always been a source of help. In most parts the people here have been very nice, however their are some who I think spend time trying to make others feel Small, I do not post often as my spelling and grammar are bad dyslexia sucks, but it never held me back and I enjoy a very successfully life.

I feel that as much as most of you are nice, the ones who are nasty and hurtful spoil it for me, and are not the type of people whom I want to surround myself with they only try make you feel Small.

I will no longer participate in this forum. To all who have been friendly I thank you, to the ones who criticize and hurt, I pray that what you send out you get back 100 times.

Again please excuse my spelling and grammar.

Enjoy flying and be nice to one another.

There are always unexpected negative responses on forums/social media. I actually find AFF one of the best for positive stuff with fairly active mods.

However I do understand what you are saying because even if rare no one likes to get sprayed when their intentions are just to participate.

It's a shame you are leaving but a good reminder for those that stay to keep this a positive community.

I've noticed AFF has gotten a little 'coughy' of late as well. I'm not going to argue one way or the other, but I can certainly say i've never abused anyone for poor grammar or language on here.

I don't participate here as much as I used to for various reasons, but I find myself participating more in other online forums now. Perhaps we'll see you over at another FF forum somewhere wayne bourke :)

The problem with some written communication (like forums) is that the 'tone' of the author is sometimes not clear. Where a comment may have been made with humour, it can be misinterpreted by the receiptant as 'having a go at them'.

This also becomes an issue where there is a disagreement on a point of view. If you were talking to a person directly, you may interpret the same words in a different way depending on tone, body language etc.

Wayne, if you’re still there, I thought the critique of your spelling was uncalled for and unduly harsh in tone, your message was clear enough.

While spelling errors grate on me as much as the next bloke (unless the next bloke is Jock28), I make it a rule not to comment unless the writer specifically invites it by, for example, making mistakes when criticizing others. Or there’s a decent pun to be had.

Just a reminder that there is a "Report Post" button at the bottom of every post - this send an email to myself and all mods. If we feel that the post is out-of-line and does not meet our Guidelines, we do take action.

AFF is a public forum and does have a diverse member base. This adds to the vitality of the community, but also does have its drawbacks.

I'm sorry to see you go.

Shame, IIRC you've added some good info.

I am often dismayed to re-read my posts later and find the "theres" wrong and "of" instead "for" and "in" instead of "on"; all the while thinking that I know I typed the correct version. I've come to conclude that autocorrect has screwed me, sometimes. This makes me think that incorrect spelling/grammar may very well be the result of machine failure and lack of proof reading.

So the joke is really on anyone who only thinks to blame the writer. Still it's worthwhile reporting them anyway, the more reports the better. Under reporting has certainly been a failure of mine.

Seems that autocorrect screwed you again...

Sorry you are going wayne bourke. And that's as much for the reasons as the actual departure itself. You certainly do get a diverse range of posters and opinions and 'styles' on here and I've found posts that I think are brilliant, kind, incisive and informative at one end of the scale right through to those I find rude, boorish, ignorant and downright offensive. Most lie somewhere between those two extremes.

Of course, what may be offensive to me may just be seen by whoever posted it as 'straight shooting' or 'telling it like it is'. I've copped the odd bad one (not many) and while they may upset me briefly, I just get on with things and consider it says more about them than it does about me.

Anyway, good luck with your projects! :)

wane if you go they have won! stay and post as you see fit !! winners are grinner's and the rest---- they can suit themselves!!

Possibly. It actually got me about 10 times in writing that, one had to get through.
Of course, I probably just forgot the "s". I also have trouble remembering to type in the suffixes. So think "makes" and type "make". But dropping the "n't" is the worst mistake I make.

cant tipe to save miselff persunally , and don't start me on teh! ( I really cant type very well and i'm not taking the ----)

Teh forum has got a bit coughy lately but thats what teh delete button is for!

Sorry to see you go
Hope you lurk!

I would echo spudseamus Wayne. If you go you let them win.Fortunately I developed a thick skin at an early age and learnt I cant please everybody.I dont forget though. As they say-revenge is a dish best served cold.
However if you really are going-all the best and may life bring you more pleasure than pain.

Sorry to see you go. I do not quite understand the mentality of some of the people that have joined AFF in the past couple of years. I reminds me too much of the treatment many receive on Flyertalk.

Some of these new(er) members appear to get great delight from jumping down people's throats.

I've come to conclude that autocorrect has screwed me, sometimes.
Autocorrect? Where?

Yes, l can sympathise with you Wayne.
I was told off the other day for using the QF PB line (illegally - first time ever - that's why QF PB doesn't work, conclusion l came to...) in no uncertain terms by 2 AFF members.
In the end, there are d!ckhe@ds everywhere in life.

If I'm on the iThingy, either Autocorrect, or my rubbery bluetooth keyboard can sink my spelling something shocking.

That's one excuse, so I don't think having a go at anyone is called for.

Not only that, what with the internet, the world is a multicultural village. There would be plenty of peeps here who are NESB. There's no need to have a go at them for it.
