No offence to anyone here, but a bit of Chopper Reid "HTFU" can do wonders as well and then you don't need to travel with half the pharmac_...
I take pretty much nothing, a blow up pillow now and then that i have never in 4 years of travel bothered to blow up yet???
The rule seem to be all liquids have to be less than 100mLs and you can only have up to 10 items or 1 Litre and yes in clear plastic bags...
I also find just about everywhere has vaguely different rules... On domestic flights in Australia now it seems you can take deoderants over 100 mLs but don't try this on international flights... Probably best to just stick to the strictest rules and you won't have the aggravation of different standards at different locales...
I now always pack my deoderant in my checked luggage as I've had them taken off me out of my carry on previously for being over 100 mLs, but in La Paz after several flights of it being ok, i boarded a flight where i had a large bottle of body wash in my carry on i'd forgotten to put in checked luggage that i was sure they would take it off me and yet that got through and it was the deoderant in my checked luggage that they took off me?!?!?
Similarly i had an open bottle of alcohol that i had been carrying in my checked luggage across several countries/continents before at Livingstone airport in Zambia they took it off me for controvening their local laws of no open alcohol in checked luggage (i had run into this elsewhere as well, i think Bali???)... Lessons learnt, almost nothing is too stupid for all the rules today and you can guarantee some places will invent some stupid ones you have never heard of/not prepared for and catch you out and you'll lose some items..
