Will Qantas have a March 2023 double status credit promotion?

Whilst I do see some classic award J availability on SYD to DFW, I don't see any to JFK (at least not on QF metal). But to put this all in to perspective for just a moment, last year I booked SYD to AKL (via MEL) for $1100 return in J during the DSC promotion and earned 480 status credits. Was a very easy way to retain Gold status (when combined with QF Green and Loyalty Bonus SCs) along with getting the 4 squiggles on my QF card.

That is the beauty of WP. Request release of award seats, attain SC on the flights in order to retain WP, request more seats, etc etc etc etc 😂

Classic Awards don't count to the 4 squiggles requirement?
Unfortunately not.

Unfortunately not.
And that's why I want to take a stab at WP.

As mentioned above, if a DSC comes along now, I will be able to retain WP pretty much purely on classic flight awards due to PC SC earn and DSC.
Ditto. In fact, if they release some seats on Friday, a SYD-LHR (Ret) trip in J ought to tie me over (maybe even without DSC).
I may be wrong, but I think there is a loop hole if you are points club.
Pretty sure they do. It’s hard to tell these days because actual ”Squiggles” were enhanced a while ago.

I'm very pleased to confirm that PC SC earning flights are definitely squiggle earning flights! I've only flown two revenue sectors on QF since my membership year reset, but with flown PC SC earning sectors in addition, I have already satisfied the 4 flight requirement.

Yes, I just checked my own. Only 3x QF revenue flights flown but “4 flights“ ticked. The others were classic reward flights.

Very interesting, where is this info coming from?
Leaked to ET by Qantas PR. Presumably to help build some hype around it among the Qantas faithful ahead of the official announcement Thursday during the half yearly results.

Yes, I've used some rewards flights (F SYD-LAX v.v) and now a DFW trip in J to help retain my status. Indeed flights over the next few weeks should get me over the line which is a nice little perk.

Of course, there is a much smaller intersection of high status (WP+) with PC/PC+ membership - not that high status pax don't earn PC through spend, but more that since PC was set up as the "Frequent Buyers" status I imagine the bigger number of members might be more points hoarders than higher status pax. Obviously QF knows the break down.

So yeah, one could make 1400 on reward flights IF they can get them opened, and fly a bunch through the year, but it would still be a bit. eg: SYD-LAX in F earned me, iirc, 81 SC, so 160(ish) for a return, with DSC 320. Do 4 of those and you're basically there. You earn about the same with SYD/MEL-DFW in J (which is more achieveable than LAX in F). LHR of course is a bigger earn so you could probably just about get there with say 3 r/t plus some other bits an bobs. Is it practical and realistic? for some it probably is. Most certainly niche.

Could certainly make Silver and maybe Gold probably fairly easily if one was motivated and could take advantage of DSC.

My own SC earn from rewards this membership year, for example, is still only around 15% of my total (but DSC has been involved with revenue tix). Helpful, but not a sealer.

I became a member of the points club. Didn't even know about it until I received the email. Is it only awards on Qantas metal that earn SC?

Yes and that's all Qantas operated saver award flights that earn SC. Meaning yes you obviously could earn SC on QF flights booked as a classic award, but also if you, like me, hold points in other OneWorld programs like British Airways or AA, you could use those points to book a QF saver award and earn SCs that way.

Easiest way to think about it, for mine - and presuming these fare buckets make sense (as they would to many/most on here) - is that anything that is on QF that you can book into P, U, Z or X class (the Classic Award fare bucket in each travel class) should earn. The booking channel is not understood to be important.

Here's the earn tables for this, on the QFF site:

Cheers,
Matt.

Not holding up any hope of the dates I want to book being released which would be to travel to LHR in J/F for Christmas.

What is a "Qantas operated saver award flight"?

Presumably, something something a real WP (AKA World Platinum ) would call a "classic award".
Actually, “Classic reward🤫

Funny, for years I always said “award flight” but it’s “reward”. Was that changed / enhanced somewhere along the line?

I presume kf99 meant "saver" as in Classic Reward (as others have noted) as opposed to the "points+pay" "reward" offered when one selects "use points" (you know, the ones converting revenue fares into points values of mostly ridiculous amounts). In that sense I suppose it is "saver" for a Classic Reward, but just not a term that has ever been used by QF.
