Will TK (Turkish Airlines) ever fly to PER, MEL or elsewhere in Oz?

Fabulous to get another Star Alliance option to Europe. Pity its via SIN initially, but all in good time.

But then you’ll miss the premium pricing and low cost carrier experience of QF 35/36! And if TK’s new service slightly eats into QF’s exorbitant profit margins, how on earth will Alan Joyce survive when his farewell fat cat bonus pulls up just short to accommodate a second super yacht mooring at his Sydney Harbourside mansion? That’s just un-Australian of you, Roo.

I'm not sure they'd necessarily have the financial capability to do it, it's a big commitment and the Turkish Lira is (due to self inflicted stupidity) increasingly struggling in foreign currency markets and inflation in Turkey is estimated at ~50% per annum. It's fair to assume the market would be Australian tourists going to Europe or north Africa, and European tourists to Australia. Not that many of either right now, or for the foreseeable...

It would have to be Sydney to be worth doing at all, they are in Star Alliance and there are plenty of Star carriers operating in to Sydney already. Including SQ under a codeshare with TK.

TK appears to have a strong preference for MEL.

There's no suggestion it lacks the financial capability, provided it achieves the fifth freedom rights Oz-SIN-Oz. See previous post above.
