Wine lovers musings, amusings and news

389 and 407 have only gone up $5 so should still be gettable in the $55-$60 range with some careful shopping.

Think the St henri has gone up $25 though..

I have met some great people through the Wine Lovers forum, including the thoughtful, enigmatic and generous, Buzzard.

It's so nice to be part of such a lovely online (and offline) community of like minded people.

Cheers, Buzz. This little gift will be treasured and, God willing, well used over the coming years. :)

Conundrum:
I have a 330 bottle VinoVault wine cooler that stays in an underground storage in Brisbane. I leave the keys with a relative in BNE.

I'm visiting Brisbane this weekend and my relative has misplaced my keys.

I've emailed the retailer from which I bought the VinoVault to ask about spare keys. They don't keep spares and the model is out of production.

Before I attempt to completely remove the locking mechanism, does anyone have alternative ideas?

FWIW the mechanism looks like this:

A locksmith. It might cost a couple of hundred dollars, though.
That's what I'd quite like to avoid. But a couple on hundred on a locksmith is a small amount relative to the value of the contents.

I'm also considering buying every Allen key Bunnings sells and trying them all.

I wouldn't worry about the allen keys. The wine safe key will have 5 or 6 indents of different depths which an allen key won't replicate. They are a bit like a normal house key rolled up.

Do you know what the key used to look like?
I have something that looks fairly similar at the bottom of one of my Vintec's, and a flat head screwdriver (or an appropriately sized Allen key) can open it. That said, maybe you have an actual keyed "key" for your type of lock.

Hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like this:IMG_8114.PNG

Is anyone else having problems with the Vivino app? Since two updates ago it seems to be really glitchy, jumps around, seems to stumble down the list of friends wines?
It’s been pretty much unuasable for me for the last few weeks

It’s been pretty much unuasable for me for the last few weeks

It has been a little unstable for me. I sometimes end up rebooting my phone which seems to settle it down a bit.
