Woolworths backflips - QF points are coming back

How much is way ahead though.......can you back it up with a number?

Yes, I have a number. I have taken the time to calculate the benefit to me.

But the formula to get that number relies on the value you have for QFF points.

I walked into one of Woolies larger stores in Melbourne today (Camberwell) and my observations of those orange tickets were that they were still few & fare between.
And where the Orange tickets were found, the Woolworths pesos on offer were next to nothing and not inducing to purchase.

I also couldn't happen to notice how quite the store was for 10am on New Year's Eve when compared to another busy trading period such as a Saturday morning , two months ago before the enhancement in the loyalty program.

Yeah but I'm only interested in a rwards scheme where I can get a few QF points at the scan of a card, no interest in playing a game of buy this brand or item created by a woolworths idiot enahncing things, I don't need the points that badly. If i find my weekly shop is costing more in January then its over to Coles.

A few years ago I previously resided in Bowral ( Southern Highlands, NSW) and Woolies were comprehensively the supermarket of choice in the region, due to the lack of competition from Coles.

A few weeks ago I revisited Bowral, and couldn't happen to notice that Coles have made a substantial investment in the town with enlarging and redesigning their store.

I suspect Woolies have been hurt badly now Coles are a formidable competitor in one of NSW most affluent regional centres.

Trade being slow before around noon on New Year's Eve is normal. Many people are sleeping in so they can be up past midnight. It tends to get quite busy on NYE between 2 and 5pm.

I don't think that all the orange W$ earn tickets are getting put up. Many products only earn for people with targeted offers and don't generally get tickets generated. Others have an IT issue with the design of the ticket format and aren't printed properly and others are sent to department managers (mostly for produce and front end) and aren't run through the ticket batches like the other specials. These require the department manager to actually check their comms and print the pdf they were sent.

The refurbishment of that store had more to do with the fact that the Coles had been in a very run down state for more than a decade.

The refurbishment of that store was also planned and approved by council many months before any changes to the WOW programme, so it's very tenuous to draw any connections.

I have a very good understanding of the Coles development in Bowral, along with the Desire for WES to open a Kmart store in the region too plus along with at least three big W stores in southern NSW that are on indefinite hold ( due to Woolies focusing too much attention to Masters) but I'll go too off topic to by discussing that here in this thread.

The point I'm trying to make Is that Even in regional conservative minded locations such as the Southern Highlands WOW can't afford to be complacent and think consumers will continue to shop at their stores because consumers have done so for many years.
The large format stores that Coles are rolling out with a larger General merchandise component are certainly gaining ground for WES, particularly strengthening their average spend per customer.

Since the new program started my transactions have added up to a little over $450. I have received a total of $45 instant discounts from targeted offers and $40 off in Woolworths dollars from targeted offers. That's just under a 20% return. If I only counted the transactions after the targeted offer promotions started it's actually a 27% return.

I have ended up with just under $5 worth of Woolworths dollars earned from orange ticket products but won't be redeeming these for a long time unless Woolworths drastically increases the amount of orange ticket products.

I haven't factored in the QFF points as there were very few as my transactions were mostly under $50 and didn't earn much in the way of points. I also haven't factored in the discounted gift cards which I always use at Woolworths. I just wanted to show how the new loyalty program is working for my family.

Exactly!

Consumers can easily change Their shopping habits accordingly.

I think I'm way ahead with the new scheme too. I've already had 2 x $10 back for spending $40 and 2 x $10 back for spending $50. We're not big spenders at the supermarket since there are only 2 of us.

I am all for change, but as I am yet to earn a single 'woolworths cent' under the new system, it is a definite fail for me. I just remembered that I will earn absolutely nothing for my $40 shop today at the local WW.

Its only working because they are throwing WW Peso's at a few people.. wait til that dries up. The new scheme has too many flaws to see it survive, I mean something conjured up by Ingrid Maes just spells disaster..

Anyway I've moved the bulk of my shopping to Aldi already. Better products, heaps cheaper and the few things I can't get there will be at Coles now just to give WW the finger..

So you don't mind WW dictating to you what you should buy to earn some Pesos?

I have no idea what a 'pesos' is in this context (WOW is an Australian company, it does not operate in Mexico), but your comment doesn't make sense in any case. No one is dictating what you buy. You have full choice in the matter.

The best value you can get from the new card is to not use it and wait for the bonus offers of cash back to get you into the store. This is just like the QFF points that they'd throw at you if you hadn't used your card under the old system. But now these enticements are MUCH more generous and instant.

I stand firmly by my earlier considered statement:

Did the bonus QFF points for people who hadn't used their cards for a while dry up...the answer you're looking for is no.

On that basis there's no credibility for you to compare the new WOW system. You have stated you don't shop much at WOW and therefore aren't aware of the benefits of the new system.
