Woolworths gift card thread

Fair enough but its relatively trivial compared to the $1000s tied up otherwise (I've corrected my post)
Agree that its not possible to technically 'incept' unless you have access to the 10% WISHs of yesteryear (....or is it?)
Exactly.
Think of it this way
100 *only1s

Cost you $65
You get $1000 worth of dj cards
3 ppd on edge VS other cards

That's $935 worth of profit for let's say 5 hours of running about

Well worth it for me

Ps did you know that DJ often price match too

Yes, I am aware, but I still wouldn't want that much money dedicated to DJs sitting around. That said, the expiry date should be infinite now.

just a heads up for everyone to make sure they keep their activation slips too,

Out of all mine, I had 5 x cards that didnt work, ,
called up only1gift cards, and the philipino staff were useless,
just kept on repeating cards can take up to 24 hours, even though I told them 4 times that the cards were purchased 4 days ago,

anyway, after sifting through all the reciepts, it was weird, 1x matching card numbers with recipets, 4x that didnt match

I thought I must have been hit with a scam,

so i took them to woolworths, the matching one they rescanned it and it said already activated,
the other 4 they scanned it and it was nt activated, so they activated it, even the staff were saying it should ha ve been activated.... but the un activated ones worked for the $10 DJ card a few days ago

hi just checking if there one can still use Woolies e wish cards to buy JBHIFI/Flight Centre cards from Woolies still (even if you have to go to the manual counter?)

I've had no problems buying all sorts of giftcards recently. The only consistent problem I've heard is buying a plastic WISH with an eWISH

Thought I'd provide some advice as to using the $10 djs gift cards as I've just used 70.

1. Download barcode generator app, I'm using Samsung note 8 so I used this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ab.barcodereader&hl=en . I did not find a good Apple app on my wife's device that was free.
2. Select 'Generate' and go to '1D code', the format is "Code 128"
3. Sort your gift cards by ascending or descending order using excel
4. Start from the top, enter the giftcard number in the 'text' field. "share" the barcode, i sent mine to my partners WhatsApp. This way it will contain the actual card number as well as the barcode. Note down the PIN in the message, should come out like this;

I have found the 6012630 is constant then each batch of giftcards (6410) and then only the last 5 numbers you have to change. Just follow pattern so that you don't have retype too many digits.
5. Go to DJs and let them scan each barcode. PIN is not needed but I have it there incase they need to do it manually. Scanning 70 took him around 15-20mins I think. Make small talk, be nice.

nice work, did you redeem 70 or did you merge into a larger one,
been dreading how to use mine?

The wonderful sales assistant entered 20 vouchers manually.

I'm not suggesting people be deliberately mean to the sales staff, but surely they are just doing their job by entering the gift card codes? If we have 20 or 50 or even 100 of these at $10 each David Jones made the decision to issue them in this denomination so they have to accept that people will front up with large numbers at a time. Seems to me then that entering large numbers is to be expected of the staff. I'm planning on using around 80 in one go to buy a fridge. I expect the staff member to enter the voucher details without any fuss at all.

But this is Australia.
Customer service levels here aren't top notch ..
What I might do is to say I'll. Come back tomorrow and leave the info so they can do it when they're free

bought an iPad and pencil for one of my kids. I haven't needed to merge yet as there is something else I want to buy too. Will merge whatever is left.

Not sure if it is actually David Jones who decided to issue them at $10 each or Blackhawk. Either way terms were clear that it was meant to be 10 per customer. Wouldn't want to draw attention to oneself. Being friendly will certainly help not drawing attention.

80 in one go with manual input, that will take a while especially if it isn't a millennial serving you. The 2 staff members at my local who look after white goods are nice ladies, but they will definitely not be as fast as the person who served me at the technology desk.

Yes, but that's purchased at Woolworths NOT redeemed at David Jones. No where does it say there is a limit on how many I can use at David Jones. It's very plausible that family members pooled their entitlements and therefore a transaction consists of more than 10 $10 gift cards.

Last time I used DJ gift cards (admittedly normal 100 AUD cards), they just scanned them, took no time at all. Can't they do the same with these?

I so wish I had read this post before I used 57 of them yesterday, I was there for some time getting a Dyson, I totally agree with the sentiment of being friendly as it certainly helped keep the assistant happy with tying up a till. Oh well, I have 6 left so will try this later.

How did you get the pin on to the pic.
I just tried it and couldn't work out how to insert text.
Using Samsung and what's app too.

I assume the shop person scans it with their gun. Enters the pin and hey presto

When you 'share' with the barcode app and select to WhatsApp and it confirms the picture/message you want to send, enter it then. They don't need the pin, it's a just in case for me.

I've just used up my remaining 86. This guy knew how to make the scanner be in automatic scanning mode so he just set it on the table and let's me know when to scan each code. Quicker as he doesn't need to hold the gun and push the button

Awesome I got to try this

Knowing my luck I'll get a grumpy middle aged lady who doesn't even know hoe to use the scanner
