Just back from Wollongong Woolworths, at least 50 cards on display.
 
Interesting.. I was at a local woolies, bought $1000 of cards. Wanting to pay using my CC.
Staff goes ok i'll have to go and verify, takes my cc and then rings I think HQ and I suspect she's putting a AUTH on the card for $1000.
See that $1000 has been put against my card, 5mins later she comes back and says ok all is good.

I then scan and pay for the cards so another $1000 is on the card.

Must have had too many scammers, frauders for them to do this.
 
Bloody rang Caltex and then in store told 5% off in gift cards.... Posting $100 gift card.....1/2 thru transaction even though sign in store told no 5% off star card...... Then discover ended yesterday!
Not happy would not move as not in system to over ride????!

Sorry for the newbie question. Can someone please point me to the explanation of the strategy of buying Woolworths gift cards?

I understand why you want to buy gift cards at 3 pts per $ with Amex Plat Edge, but how is it different from just buying your groceries with your Plat Edge?
