Visa 1 gift cards $6.95 each!
well its obvious that theyve raised the fee by $1

so in the past few weeks/months,
amex have decided to halve their airline redemption rates
woolworths cant buy with 5% discounted ecards anymore
now theyve raised the of these only1s
and now the promos that used to be $10 worth of points is now $5

virtually/is game over for me now

I honestly feel that $1.95 for 300 points is worth it. Especially before April. You are effectively paying .6cents per point which is a winner in my books.

Assuming you already have a 1:1 Visa/Mastercard then you are really only getting an extra 200 points for $1.95.

Should still be good value for those that say they value Amex points at 3 or 4 cents each. Not for me though.

Yes we have a redemption flight on QF this week and that was better than 3 or 4 cents a point purely based on the online retail pricing.

Thats true, however no card gives 1:1 to who I transfer to (krisflyer) and AMEX does often run promos for velocity / qantas where you get more than 1:1.
My biggest motivator is to pad my AMEX MR before the devaluation in April.

yes, its a pretty good purchase price, if you are into buying points for flights

Probably testing the water. Maybe even wondering why sales in WW have tanked over last month. I dont believe many will take up at that price
im also wondering if the marketing managers are seriosuly scratching their heads in their board rooms wondering why gift card sales have plummented due to the patches,
and after raising some fees previously from 5.95 to 6.95, and now these only1 cards as well. Surely it was obvious?

and now with the amex deval (which has nothing to do with woolworths, but surely they must be aware the correlation)

The lack of Canberra acceptance had already put a dent in my love for Only1s before everything else

Advice please - do gift cards expire and might that include an old Skype card from a supermarket which is prob old and the code is 'invalid'? Thanks

Everyone "buys" points either in $ or time (or other factors such as credit rating hits)..

It is just how much time and cents (or $) one is willing to expend/pay per point.

Sometimes due to various factors/promo one can actually make money per transaction though. But a measure of time is always involved.

What each of us is willing to expend (pay) varies in both time and $.

Not sure if I've posted in the right thread, anyway I bought a few of the restaurant gift cards in this week's catalogue last night in Melb and got no bonus points ... Check your receipts people!
