Woolworths gift card thread

I went into Woolies this week to purchase a physical Woolies gift card as a present. No offers,no bonus points etc. The card did not activate at the register, the attendant advised that they no longer accept credit card as payment for gift cards anymore. Not e-gift cards, but credit cards! I've reached out to the customer service team but have yet to hear back
I bought two gift cards of WW yesterday, one WW Wish and one Kayo Sports. I was lined up to use self checkout but the attendant advised to go to a regular checkout as they'd been having problems activating at self checkout. No problems activating at the regular checkout and I paid with a credit card. (Purchase also triggered 10,000 bonus QF points on my Amex :)).

Thanks for the info (although I doubt this could be a new thing), but why wouldn't you you buy this GC through cashrewards or similar at 5% off? AFAIK, there was no GC promo this week.

Possibly for the current AMEX offer of bonus points?

Ww gift card section confirmed today that I was told the wrong info by the store.......the gift card activation must have failed for other reasons

Just noticed this on OzBargain:

1000 Points on $50 Ultimate Kids, Teens, Students or Style GC | 2000 Points on $100 Ultimate Him, Her or Home @ Woolworths

I cannot confirm if this is for every store/state. This was definitely not listed in the catalogue I received in Wollongong for this week.

I bought our Christmas gift cards via RACWA and it is limited to 10 physical cards per order. Several orders later I have them done on an Amex card. Woolies are quoting 10 days for snail mail and there is a postage fee on each package of 10 gift cards.

FYI, nothing in the catalogue for the next week. But (perhaps) like last week there may be something only advertised in store.

10% off these GCs in Warringah Mall NSW today. Didn't buy so not sure if they are more widely accepted than they claim to be 20200819_123735.jpg

Can you remind us @Dr Ralph?
Detailed in this thread, but in brief:

1) Can't use them online. Have to convert them. Then cant split payment, so will be stuck with a residual you cant use or can't add to the payment. So for example you want to buy a pair of shoes and they cost $120. Gift card is $100. Some store don't allow you to add the $20 via an alternate payment method.

2) Difficulty using in-store as the EFTPOS machine rejects them.

I won't buy this range of cards again.
