Woolworths gift card thread

If purchasing multiple HIM gift cards and to maximise points earn, do you need to pay for each gift card in a separate transaction to earn the 20X points?

Cheers
No.

But remember that there is a limit of 10 cards per transaction.

Just wondering if anyone could offer some advice? I'm thinking of buying a new phone from JB. If purchasing multiple HIM gift cards and to maximise points earn, do you need to pay for each gift card in a separate transaction to earn the 20X points?

Cheers
At woolies, the points earned display during the checkout process before payment, so it should be clear what you'll earn. T&Cs say 10 cards per transaction and 1 transaction per member per day so if you want to be 100% certain, follow those limits in case you need to follow up, and you should be fine!

Anyone got experience with the Airbnb cards? Any pitfalls to be aware of? Same with the luxuryescapes one - these could be handy

I haven't checked recently, but I recall that there were no refunds for bookings cancelled where you paid via a gift card.

Just detailing my experiences purchasing the SWAP cards:

1) I purchased 4 yesterday in 1 transaction. There were issues with activiation - extreme time delay and failure for 1 card.
2) I though all of that had been sorted and I left the store with 4 activated cards and receipts showing the same.
3) I tried to check the balance of all 4 cards today. 1 card wasn't recognised at all.
4) I called the number on the back of the card and they told me that there was no record of that card being activated. I indicated that I had the receipt which clearly stated 'Activation was sucessful'. They told me to go back to the store.
5) Went back to the store. Store said its activated and there's nothing that they could do.
6) I pushed the point with them. I gave them the name of the person that served me the previous day and told them of the activiation issues that that staff member could confirm. Fortunately that staff member was in the store at that time and did confirm. I got a replacement card.
7) I checked the balance of the replacement card immediately and everything was fine.
8) I tried to 'swap' all 4 cards tonight. 3 went through fine, The 4th has a problem - says that the voucher will be emailed within 24 hours. The first 3 were received instantly.

UPDATE: 4th and final swapped gift card just arrived.

I have had these swap card previously but don't recall similar issues.

If you are buying these I suggest you keep a track of everything.

Do you know if these cards can be used to make the second and final payment on an existing booking ? I ask as the terms state they can’t be used to pay charges towards cancellation of an existing booking . Thanks in advance .

I've never bought these Swap gift cards before and was going to do so for the first time to take advantage of the 20x points offer, but now I'm nervous. Is it best to activate the cards instore at the register before leaving?

That's the way these cards work, they are activated at the point of sale terminal when you pay. You don't/can't activate them later. (By activate I mean the initial activation of the Swap card, not the later swap to another gift card which you do on their web site.)

I buy a lot of gift cards. Rarely have an issue. My post wasn't designed to alarm anyone. I continue to urge that people are vigilant whenever buying cards. Things can and will go wrong inevitably. Be prepared and act accordingly.

Oh ok! Ha, am totally clueless when it comes to these things. I assume you purchase them from a manned register and the staff activates them for you, or can you also do it yourself at the self-checkouts?

You can, but it still needs staff intervention (it's pretty pointless, they don't usually do anything but remove the notice from the screen, but it's meant to be to validate that all the cards activated which in my experience they never do)

... and to try and stop the victims of scams from dutifully buying the Itunes or other cards as instructed.

This couldn't be timed any more perfectly. My parents are in the process of updating a number of Macs in their business so bought $8,000 worth of Apple Gift cards for a cool 160,000 WWD / 80,0000 QFF points. There's also the points from the Amex transaction and 2 points per $ spent at Apple via Qantas Shopping so this is easy points for them. The gift card purchases had to be spread over 2 days due to the 10 cards per transaction/1 transaction per member per day clause in the T&C's. WWD converted to points and landed in the QFF account a couple of hours after each transaction was performed.

The staff were super super sus — needed approval from 2 other staff members including the store manager who wanted my Mum to explain exactly what she was doing in order to proceed. My Mum assured them she wasn't being scammed by someone pretending to be the ATO and that she was in fact using the cards herself to buy new equipment from Apple and was only taking advantage of the current WWR offer. Have to give the Woolworths team absolute credit for not just letting thousands of dollars of gift cards walk out the door unchecked and ensuring vulnerable people aren't being caught up in scams.

Well played and that will be an excellent yield particularly as tax-deductible expense. Do the Qantas Shopping points definitely work if you pay with GCs?
