Woolworths gift card thread

I've had the lady at the tobacco counter do 10 at a time once because the girl at the self checkout said it would take too long . This was at Macquarie park. Girl at tobacco did not require id.

Someone has cleaned out all the $100 Only cards at my nearest Woolies and now they have almost cleaned out the next nearest!

I wonder who it could be?;)

every store in my state has piles of $100 ones left, I assume its because there are no promotions and the people dont see value in paying 5.95 in fees minus 5%

unless im not aware of a promotion

ok thanks. Haven't bought it yet. Just looking to buy soon. Had the impression someone would know the fees for the prepaid visa cards off the top of their head.

Sounds to me you're buying a Visa1 card or similar, and in that case, it's classed as a Debit card, therefore it is 0.15%

Let me guess:

Monsieur Green
with the electronic card
in the self-serve queue

:)

There is still value to be had outside the promotion periods, but may depend on what you value you put on points versus how you value your time.

Wouldn't you need to value points at ~5c for the $100 gift cards to be worthwhile?

((105.95*.95)-100) = 65 cents cost to earn 106 points, ignoring time bother

.65/106 (1 point per dollar rounded up) = .613 cents per point cost

I'm just glad the eftpos/visa cards are in great supply, otherwise i'd be worried of increased competition to purchase these cards

I wonder and hoping if those 2000bonus points per $100 gift card promo or similar one will happen again.

Essentially free money!

Each store imposes it's own policy. In future just scan 4 at a time

No, it's just each employee imposes their own policy. Had a self-serve minder help me try and process 10 when they did that promo, only to be over-ruled by the person behind the service desk (said I could only buy 4) to only then be over-ruled by the store manager (who said I can buy 5 per transaction but can do as many as I want). T&Cs said 10 per customer IIRC....

AFAIK, the self-serve terminals have a maximum of $500. I buy 4 & pay, then another 4, etc. No problems at my local store, although I try to be discreet.

I believe if there's any form of giftcard or voucher involved the machine chucks a fit after $500 or 6 cards/vouchers. At least that's what I've run into so far.

Should come to country locations, plenty of them in the bush hahah
