Hi all. First post!

Thinking of getting the Woolworths Everyday Rewards Qantas Card. 16K QFF points, one point per dollar, plus not having to queue up at the petrol station. As for the $89 annual fee, I think that would be reasonably well covered by the bonus points.
Would appreciate anyone giving me their thoughts about this deal.

Link is below:

Signing up gives you 16,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

Other points of note are:
  • $89 annual fee, which includes a 24/7 Concierge Service
  • Free Additional Cardholder
  • Competitive credit card interest rate
  • Up to 55 days interest free on purchases[SUP]4[/SUP] when you pay your closing balance in full by the due date each month
  • 5.99% p.a. for 6 months on balance transfers[SUP]5[/SUP] from non HSBC/Woolworths credit and store cards
  • Chip Security
  • MasterCard[SUP]®[/SUP] PayPass[SUP]TM[/SUP]
  • Access to epump[SUP]6[/SUP], a quicker way to pay for fuel

Hi vicsta,

You might want to have a read through this. It will keep you going for a few mins.

I have the card as back up to my Amex and it is not bad at all.

Appreciate the quick responses. 89 pages of posts about this card, that's crazy!

For a few mins? I think it would take me hours to read them all!

It's all about speed reading! :p

(Yes I forgot to put the sticky out tongue emoticon in my original post. Better still would be a whistle emoticon!)

Hi vicsta,

I have had this card for around 7 months, total earn from this card in that period is around 87,624 points plus the 16k sign up... (103k to date)

I'd really love a 1.5:1 Amex / MC / Visa card but since I am self employed I am not allowed to have one from either Amex or Citi, but this card is fine for now, un-capped points earn and I should be able to put nearly $150k through this card in my first year :D

I would recommend that once you get this card, keep an eye on your spend level. If you get to say 70% of your limit ,I recommend that you Bpay a payment to the card, as it takes about 3 days to appear. If not and you make a large spend that takes you over your limit, you may end up paying some large interest charges.

I use this card in placed my AMEX wont work.

dont get the extra points but 1 point per dollar is ok

Have decided to cancel this card as it wasn't being used much (the next annual fee is due in November) - I'd originally taken it up for the 16,000 point sign-on bonus.
When I called the call centre to cancel, they offered 1,000 FF points if I keep the card open until then. Not surprisingly I agreed! The points have since come thru. I will still be canceling the card.
As an aside, Besides not being a frequent Woolies or Caltex shopper (they're not conveniently located) my biggest gripe with the card is the need to spend $30 before the FF points earn starts. Anyone else feel the same way?

The credit card doesn't work that way. Points are earned per dollar on the full amount.

Say what?

Shop for $5 on the card anywhere and earn 5 QFF points. Shop for $35 on the card anywhere and earn 35 points. Shop for $100 on the card anywhere and earn 100 points.

Shop at Woollies/Big W for $50 - use this card, scanning the barcode on the back and earn 70 QFF points. Shop at Woollies/Big W for $150 - use this card, scanning the barcode on the back and earn 270 QFF points.

Thanks for clarification ozmark. Was it perhaps like that at some point?

No - the card has only been around a year.

Maybe you are confusing with everyday rewards which provide a point for every dollar over $30 for purchases at Safeway stores - no matter how you pay.

No, but if you are using it in conjunction with the Everyday Rewards card then that earns 1 point a dollar over $30. However, sometimes they did advertise it as 2 points per dollar above $30 at Woolworths, but the credit card still gave a point per dollar on amounts under $30.

I rang today to cancel the card before the annual fee is due and they offerred me nothing ! So cancel I will.:(
