No one from EDR ever asked if I would be happy for them to junk my opportuities to earn QFF points.
Had they bothered, they might have discovered that our $10k plus per grocery shopping is now going to Coles.:evil::evil:

So the "average" shopper really wants $$$ off their weekly spend, rather than FF points, according to their FAQs.
Why not offer the option to choose: $$$ Off or FF Points, or would that simply be too much trouble to have even been considered?

Why are you removing Qantas Points?

We asked members what they really want from a rewards program, and the answer was clear — money off their shopping. So, we changed points for Woolworths Dollars.

Strangely, I don't remember being asked my preference or take at any stage on this. Did any other AFF members do a survey that hinted at this possibly taking place?

You have stuck with Cellarmasters for so long?
The points earn was so irrregular from online purchases , at least for me , that i gave up years ago.

I did get a very lengthy questioaire late-ish last year. All sorts of permutations for " improved" reward program,it took 1/2 hr to complete. It was clear they were looking at alternatives to QFFF points.
My very clear message was that points was the only reason they were getting the proportion of grocery spend from me they were.My family's 15k spend on Groceries and purchases through BWS will stop after 31Dec.Coles have spent big upgrading their store near me and Woolies is a slum ,poorly laid out, cluttered and reduced choice in the past year so this makes the move easy for me.

Just got the email. Pretty much what we expected, but very underwhelming. I've trawled through the FAQ on the Woolworths Rewards website and can't even find any info about the rate at which points will be earned. That's one of the most important things when considering the value in a loyalty program!!

I won't be shopping at Woolworths after 31 December. Instead, I think I'll spread the love between Coles and Aldi.

Oh, and in case anyone from Woolies see this, I just did this:

I joined Flyby's 6 months ago and boy haven't I been flooded with offers.
I have since accumulated in excess of 50,000 flybys points for very little outlay.
Last week I received their Christmas bonus point coupon pack & I'll easily be able to have my flybys points doubled before Christmas , where I predict I'll have inexcess of 100,000 flybys points in my account.

Amazing!

I bet the staff at Flybys HQ are set for a busy week next week with a flood of new membership applications!

A Coles opened across the road from the local Safeway about five years ago. Our supermarket shopping habits changed from nearly all Woolworths to 70% them and 30% Coles more recently. With this change the ratio is likely to even up or tilt the other way.

Thinking about the auto $10 discount it appears there will be little customer control when it will be applied.

A couple of years ago Fly Buys activated the auto $10 for 2000 point discount on check out on [-]all[/-] our account.

Members who had this needed to make the effort to have it deactivated if they wanted to retain control.

We were 'caught out' once - although I did need to explain to SWMBO how 10000 FlyBuys could be better value in the longer term than 5 x $10 discounts.

I wonder how much liability they got off the books with that one.

Life goes on and things change, I'll closely look at this revised scheme but as above I am thinking the revision will remove most of the incentive for us to choose Woolworths over Coles or Aldi - a 'random' discount not withstanding.

Qantas points gone from woolworths on dec 31st.

:evil:No more bonus points for me.Got email this morning now called Woolworths Rewards.Coles here I come.

When Woolies were giving away 500,750 and 1,000 points per time many would have thought Qantas was selling them those Qantas points for bugger all. Well I don't think that they were getting them for less than at least a cent each plus GST and it was quoted in a news article that they had spent about 90 million dollars per year on this chase for customers.
It will leave many customers with unworkable Qantas points balances that will end up expiring in the next 18 months or so.

I'm quite sure that Auto cash redemption is defaulted to off, but certainly worth checking for those newbies signing up.

I am disappointed - there is not enough information .From the first look, WOW is not going to be the priority grocery store for my family any more.

The Macquarie Visa card is potentially going to be even less useful now . In any case , once they start wanting the annual fee again (currently waived ) , I'm off !

I had hoped that the "new" EDR may be going to offer some form of QFF "status" earn was being considered to allow you to make better use of QFF points .

Apart from the initial email saying not very much I have had no further communication from Woolworths.

So people who are using the EDR to keep Qantas points alive, the very infrequent flyers, what can they do?

The activation of this for us was driven by taking up a Coles Insurance product. I believe it is only turned on if you have a Coles Finance / Coles Insurance product...

Well that may explain it, I certainly turned it off ASAP.

I did my first big shop in a couple of years at Coles yesterday. They will certainly be seeing more of my money. Etihad works quite well for some VA domestic easily getting 2c per Etihad point (eg SYD--CNS).

Not amazing at 0.4/$ but with at least a triple points or 500 bonus every week with vouchers through Jan already delivered certainly reasonable. Insurance products can also speed up Flybuy earn rate.

Shame you cant get a 5% on CG&M cards though

Mrs OATEK said "Oh great, this means I don't have to go out of my way to shop at Woolies anymore, and I really like the local Supabarn better anyway". We have an IGA as well as the Supabarn that are far and away the most convenient, and they will be the winners. Woolies have got some extra business in recent times for convenience at the local Westfileds. But Coles have moved in there, and ALDI have a presence, so overall Woolies will lose what was once probably 2/3rds of our grocery spend, so about $8-10K.

But Coles will not be the winner, as I don't see that we will get any real value from FlyBuys/EY hookup, and they are further away from home than even Woolies. And ALDI will still get some business as they carry a few appealing items.

Credit card earnings will keep the points ticking over, and the local garage gives us lower priced petrol than the Woolies discount.

Bye bye Woolies!

Ensuring non expiration of QF pts was the only value I could ever see in the tie up - CC sign on bonus pts dwarfed anything achievable with direct purchase at WW in recent years. I am a very frequent flyer - but a never ever comm flyer on QF - but again thanks to AFF I'll get 100 solutions presented here but Joe Bloggs in the street will certainly be scratching his head.

Yes many months ago but not directly from WOW.
