Woolworths reviewing partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

I thought Kerry Stokes was the majority owner of Channel 7?

Correct. My mistake, I was thinking (in my red haze) of Kerry Stokes investment in WesTrac (and Ch7)...similar Wesfarmers. Lesson, don't drink and post.

Two hundred thousand + QFF points just from Woolies EDR in the last two years? Rubbish.
One day I will do the numbers but I believe I, our family, have earned 150,000+ QFF points from Everyday Rewards over the years. Could have been more had I been doing the shopping but not easy on mum to split the shopping up to the right amounts required for all the different promotions.

Woolies service 29 million customers a week - can't see a minuscule fraction pi$$ed off with a few missing QFFP really hurting them.

You make a compelling point amaroo. As I indicated earlier today, despite people jumping up and down about the changes, the fact is this is a smart, carefully considered, business decision for Woolworths.

I thought the Coles offer of FlyBuys to Etihad points to be quite bizarre. Coles have spent bugger all on their loyalty scheme compared with Woolies as FlyBuy points are close to worthless in the big scheme of things.
The ugly part of Woolies dropping out of Qantas is that many members will forfeit all those odd numbers of points in their accounts thru the inactivity clause 18 months from December 31st.

I have a suspicion that WW wanted to keep QF as a partner but as an option to redeem. In that scenario QF demanded an all-or-nothing as that way more QF points are left unused at no cost to QF.

Has anyone had a sneak peak at both the Woolworths and Everyday Rewards Facebook Page visitor posts?

It's an avalanche of negative commentary, that makes this thread look short .

I'd love to be at the meeting where Woolies calls QFF to re-establish a points partnership where QFF says - "sure, but we can't give you the same great low rate on points... it's now 20% more".
Dunno. While they are still said to be talking, I think Woolworths is in the better position. The emails from Qantas look a bit like a panic button has been hit, and they are the ones that want point earning to continue.

Of course.

Are they pretty much along the same lines as this thread here?

Sounds pretty significant if this is coming from those who may not be so points savvy.

Mostly full of themselves. Let's face it, the average FF person is nothing if not vocal.
  • I'm gonna take my spend where its cheaper and better = Well your a numnut for spending on expensive inferior stuff
  • I am taking my loyalty to Coles - well you may have been loyal, but not to Woolworths
Some saying it will be the undoing of Woolowrths. Well, lets look at the evidence. With a few exceptions (eg radiogirl) most of this board has spent the last few years universally panning flybuys. And yet, Coles are snacking on Woolworths lunch at the moment. AFFers are jumping ship to a scheme they have lambasted.

Albeit one that now appears to be more relevant and provide better value to those who fly rather than buy toast or toasters. Time will tell I guess.

Not surprising to see that. Most people don't like change even when it's good for them.

Yes. It looks like most of the comments to WoW social media are negative to this change and mostly from non frequent flyers.

Why do you assume this is good for anyone other then Woolworths (who would have been assuming that no one would get annoyed by this and thus no change to shopping patterns)

Of course.

I Monitored the Woolworths & Everyday Rewards Facebook Visitor posts for a few days last week prior to the announcement and my description to the level of activity on both pages went from a trickle to a full blown flood of activity. ( and the tone of commentary has become extremely negative)

Certainly many of the people commenting on the Woolies & Everyday Rewards Facbook Visitor Post pages are folk that wouldn't even know this website existed, so Woolies have upset more than just a few customers on here I would have thought.

The announcement has become a Social media embarrassment for Woolworths.

If that's the case, where are all the people complaining about the Coles/Etihad partnership being introduced?

I sure bet the people at Flyby's HQ are set for a busy week with a flood of new membership applications being processed :)
