Woolworths reviewing partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

I went to Coles yesterday to explore my options. I not they have a sign saying 2000 points = $10 off your shopping. Now given I've seen people claim they spent $250 and not got a single Woolworths dollar, Coles plan is probably looking better because everything earns points as does shopping in Target and K-mart and other retailers. Many could rack up the 2000 points a month versus the modelled 7 weeks for a $10 reward that Woolworths has offered. In the long run i'll lose 5-10k points a year from Woolworths, I'll continue to accrue QFF points by flying and CC. I'll just use my flybuys a bit more rather than go to Woolworths only. Going into Coles after 6 odd years is strange. I put it almost on par as going into a supermarket in a foreign country! I found a few things I'd not seen before in Woolies, some different brands I'm going to try. I've also just requested my Woolworths card be cancelled and to no longer receive promo material. I can't be bothered waiting til December.

Reality is I just booked a cheap Y+ fare to Lima, put in for business class upgrades at 45k each way and will earn 30k for the flights. I can understand people who don't fly din't care much, but reading the facebook page reveals how many of those people actually used QFF points for giftcards and in the store. A lot more than I though and they were not QFFer's, just normal people who used the points for gift cards and toasters :-)

If anyone hasn't received their new cards yet, I suggest you log into your account and check that Woolworths Rewards have your correct details. Some of our cards arrived yesterday but one was missing. I logged into that account today to find that the address listed on the account was a completely different Queensland address and not Victoria.

I've just changed the address and I'm about to send negative feedback. I'm guessing the only way to get a new card is to apply for a new one but I think the new program issue new card numbers instead of cards with the same barcode. This is annoying as I need two cards with the same barcode and number in order to operate this account.
There are 4 letters sitting at home. Mum opened one of them to see what was inside. The others letters will not be opened for now.

I will keep saying these changes are not going to make much difference. AFF is a very very small percentage of Woolworths shoppers. The vast majority of people don't chase points. They go shopping and any points are a bonus. The saddest part is looking at award availabilty on Qantas. People don't want to book 353 days in advance and they certainly don't want a restricted choice of available destinations. Try going to SIN, BKK and HKG at short notice (<3-6 months) without being forced onto Jetstar.

Qantas is clearly at fault here. Can't flood the market with QFF points and not provide more award availability to cope with the demand.

You realize QF want you to use those points for toasters, right?

I really can't see Qantas is at 'fault' here.
Woolworths made the decision to ditch its relationship with Qantas, Woolworths will pay the price with a small ( but deeply costly) loss of customers and subsequent market share as a result of replacing their loyalty scheme with a truly uninspiring loyalty scheme.

It does seem that the email offers are now coming rather more frequently...
Qantas Points on a case of superb Shiraz - Cash or points...

And this is exactly the flaw in the article i posted this morning.

The article assumes people will buy orange sticker items.. and we wont!

He claims WW is the better option but its not.

I had a quick look at the Woolworths rewards facebook page today. There seems to be mixed reaction to the new program. Some people are earning the Woolworths dollars but others are spending hundreds and not getting anything. I couldn't see any evidence of targeted offers yet. Many people are complaining about the lack of key chain cards and the Woolworths rep says they don't intend to produce them. This feels like the program is going backwards. Other members have complained about not being able to get two cards for the one account, so I'm not alone on that issue. Once again the WW rep says they don't intend to do that either. The rep says to get a separate account and link them to share fuel vouchers. This isn't the main reason for having two cards for the one account. Perhaps WW are trying to make it harder for the gamers.

Might be widespread. Either way, they're giving me my 3k points back.

Just to clarify, chelzmalee and kyle, you actually bought a gift card? WOW haven't decided to arbitrarily deduct points from your account?

Nothing would surprise me these days

Cheers skip

That was my first question tonight as the kids new cards arrived. We kept one each and used their cards when our offers were getting a little ridiculous.

Mentioned up-thread. Scan card print. Cut to size desired. Laminate. Hole punch if needed.

OTOH We have a new Coles on the way home (ie not "downtown"). Only thing that "stuck out" was cat litter (in 10kg bags). While that will likely be an excuse to visit, the reaction - both pretty much equally boring pricewise. Read the sale sheets if you want to save.

More like qantas bought it for me. They claimed i opted into auto rewards

There's something strange going on. Our qantas accounts have 3,000 point deductions for woolworths $20 gift cards. I'm on hold with qantas.

The accounts with deductions had EDR fuel offer set to points instead of discount. The unaffected qantas account has EDR set to fuel discount. May or may not be coincidence with woolworths split.

There's no such thing as coincidence - just kids on work experience.

I just visited Woolworths for the third time since they brought in the new program.

Still haven't earned a single cent worth of itchy & scratchy money.

As expected, not a known issue. Need to call back in morning.

There is so much marketing fun to be poked at by Coles here.

From

"rewards on every product* - no ticket required"

To

"at Coles, you decide how to earn your points - the way you want them (photo of Nicole kidman in Etihad residence, against a photo of a dad buying milk "

And my favourite

"now, there's even more point(s) to shop with Coles"

*usual exclusions re: cigarettes

We have managed 1.19 of Woolworths Rupiah in two shops totalling over $210. It doesn't bode well.

wow. you've done very well Mr_Orange. hate to calculate how much you'll have to spend to get $10 off your next shop
