Woolworths reviewing partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Take it from someone that was burned significantly with Ansett.

I'll upset myself if I quote and see the points figure in print again, this current QF Frequent Flyer is to QF, not worth the trouble of maintaining of defending as far as Woolworths is in mix.

Obviously Qantas is not in trouble at this time, but the FF scheme and the way it operates I'm sure is a thorn in their whatever section has anything to do with it.

just had email from Qantas re ongoing discussions with woolies. sounded vaguely positive

Some would say it was positively vague. In my opinion didn't say much other than it seems that rumours of the death of the partnership are premature.

Just goes to show that people are obsessed with points.

Of course, JohnK. I thought that was why we were here! Interesting however that the discussion has all been about points, and yet the Flybuys-Etihad deal includes SCs. Some of us are more obsessed with having cool status than with points.

It didn't take long to discover the flybuys status offer is a bit pfft. Do the maximum possible monthly shop and the three for one tier miles deal can't get you more than 60% of the way to EK PS status by 31 Dec. However the way it's structured looks like it's a carefully designed ploy to grow sales at that all important time of the year - only 62 days to Christmas, folks!

As a linked flybuys and Etihad Guest member, members will earn 3 Etihad Guest Tier Miles for every $1 spent at Coles Supermarkets, Coles Online, Coles Express, Liquorland and First Choice from 21/10/2015 – 31/12/2015. Etihad Guest Tier Miles will be awarded at the end of each calendar month. During the promotional period members will be able to earn up to 5,000 tier miles per month...

Could it be that the QFF email is not the own goal it appears to be at first blush, but is in fact a teaser? Could it be that a sweetener for any revised EDR-QFF arrangement might be a modicum of QFF SCs for EDR christmas shopping spend?

Total speculation, but its a nice dream:cool:

Cheers skip

Will red roo give us a heads up before it goes public like when we got the heads up for the simpler fairer Qantas msa sc points earning etc etc

Can't see my WW shop dropping. I'd rarely crack $30 but with 3ppd and 5% discount via Amex and Wish, WW have the edge anyway. If I could get the Coles vouchers it might be a bit closer but they seem a lot harder to source.

Probably not, now that this thread has been moved from the Qantas thread and buried in "Other Resources."

Well I spotted Red Roo having a little sticky beak in this thread a little earlier on, so I have no doubt that Red Roo has an understanding of the momentum this discussion has been gaining.

Realistically, it is a Woolworths thing to announce. To me, it looks a lot like Woolworths have walked away, and QF are in crisis mode trying to bring Woolworths back. For $80 million a year, I'd do the same, mind you.

yeah, this.

Not so much to do with Qantas 'looking after' its frequent flyers to ensure earning opportunities continue as 'heck, we're losing $80 million in revenue'.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Since they canned the fuel thing - earning points via Woolies is meh.

not so much to do with the everyday rewards card but if the apple pay logo has been spotted on some woolworths and coles stores and when apple pay does launch here if that credit card provider doesn't support apple pay then they may loose then may go to coles mastercard(or nab flybys card) if they support it, maybe not at frist but i know i will change banks if my bank doesn't support apple pay so if i had a woollies credit card and it didn't support it i would just go to coles

Not yet at least.

I have made contact with Everyday rewards via a Facebook PM yesterday and they have requested dates, locations and times of where I have filled up at WW petrol and QFF points have not posted. They have informed me that they are happy to credit me the missing points once they have this information.

I should have said the bonus fuel offers ... the glory days of 15, 20, 30/points per litre were fantastic.

I believe we have the competition bodies and consumer advocates to thank for that.

I agree, wasn't too hard obtaining in excess of 1000 QFF points for filling your tank up.
Those were the days indeed .

You can blame the Toothless tiger ACCC for that one...

Well it worked. Annual report details WOW Petrol sales reduced by 20.3% ($1.44B) with litres dropping by 13.1% (635million litres).

Those $ went somewhere - so they did a good job in spreading the cheer around.

Seeing the petrol is cheap in Melbourne I decided to fuel up, seeing points might be going soon.

Looks like I will going going to Shell Coles Express for FB points and discounts and maybe BP for Velocity points.
