World's best airport named

I've been to all but 3 of the top 10; those three are: AMS Schipol, YVR and NGO Central Japan.

The wrestle for top spot is a tough one - I probably couldn't split hairs between ICN and HKG.

No I don't believe SIN deserves the #1 spot.

I'm a bit surprised to see MUC there. MUC is as office looking as FRA is, except it has less traffic going through it. But still has the same signage idiosyncrasies that seem to give FRA a bad name.

So the big question is where do any of Australian airports rate?? So neglected in decent quality infrastructure stakes..

The article in the OP gives the ranking of Sydney at 20 and Melbourne at 43. Suffice to say Brisbane doesn't "rate", for reasons unknown...

There is a hasty article correction which states:
The top five airports overall for Australia/Pacific were Auckland, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and the Gold Coast.

Not sure if that is in order or just states the five which are there. Surprised to see OOL there! I'd probably sooner see ADL there.

Been to 5 and are seriously considering flying out of the Central Japan airport in the future.loved Nagoya when we were there and AY flies out to HEL from there.Of course JAL and CX flights.

I've also done 5/10... interesting list though! Questionable ratings - in my view, for some of the tier.

Been to ICN, PEK, YVR & SIN (although my last time through SIN was about 8 years ago now). Obviously haven't been to HGK to compare, but ICN is definitely a class above all the other airports I've been to (e.g. MEL, DUB, FRA, LHR, PVG, SHA, SFO, BKK et al). Some of the other airports might be somewhat controversial entries to the list, but having been to ICN, I can see why it's always at the very least on the podium, if not walking away with the gold itself, in these rankings.

Bit unsure about YVR. It's certainly a nice looking modern facility, but there are some seriously long walks to some of the international gates, such as the one I had to trek to to board my AC flight to PEK. At least they have largely put the duty free shops to the sides unlike using them to form an obstacle course à la MEL. PEK is a bit similar to YVR. The subway link does work very well though. Will be interested to see how the Beijing Daxing airport turns out when it's finished.

Been to 7 out of 10. Missing are MUC, YVR and NGO (Chubu Central Japan at Nagoya). Want to go to MUC and YVR one day. Can skip NGO as can just travel on Shinkansen in Japan anyway.

My favorite are HKG, SIN, ICN in this order.

I've been to three but I can't believe SYD ranked above MEL in the larger rankings. Perhaps they don't take into account accessibility between terminals but I honestly think MEL rates way above SYD.

Interesting to note BNE ranks at the top for Asia/Pacific regional airports, but not sure how Gold Coast got up there. I thought LRE was more efficient ;)

You can never overestimate a good bus ride:D

Surely SYD must be close to last!

SYD is not really that bad, there are far worse out there.

I've only been to one on the list, HKG. Whilest I don't know if it is better than some of the airports I've been to which haven't made it onto the list, it was certainly impressive by sheer size.

I really don't the anti-SYD sentiment here. DOM flights on QF are fine - straight to the lounge from kerb in 2 mins generally. INT flights similarly I can be in the lounge within 10 - 15 mins max.

Again I don't get why MEL is better - T3 is a coughhole and I find T2 a dated 70's style - I also didn't prefer the F lounge over the SYD lounge. Is it just because of the inter-terminal transfers are difficult?

I don't mind SYD either BUT as long as I don't have to go to the budget/regional terminal which I find claustrophobic and teeming with 'interesting' people...

Agree the QF domestic terminal is great plus the QF transfer system to International is fine. And the F lounge just makes up for anything bad that happens :)
