I recently flew EY J, SYD-AUH in a window seat on the 777. There was a couple in front man seated window and lady across over on centre aisle. Maybe late 30's, who knows but they were clearly happy to be travelling together and she decided to join him lying together on his seat in bed mode. They'd been hitting the booze pretty hard. About four hours into my sleep and probably 3 hours from landing, I feel moisture over my lower legs - they'd managed to knock over a glass of wine off their side table and it came spilling around into my bed. A quick 'sorry' was the best they could do. Got a shower in AUH and no real surprise to see this couple again later, sitting in the bar of the A380 taking me through to LHR. Still boozing.

I flew China Eastern earlier this year, and the lady sitting in the aisle seat was happily cutting her toe nails with the off cuts flying around the cabin.

I think that's up there with grossness

Oh gross . And THAT's why I always clean the IFE screen with a disinfectant wipe (as well as the tray table etc) as soon as I get on the plane.

We did think the wheel chair couple at JFK took the prize. They get wheeled off the plane, have their luggage specially picked off the carousel then when they are out near the transport they hop off their wheel chairs and walk freely/briskly off with their luggage.

She would get a firm elbow to the toes and water splashed on her very quickly. I would even consider a glass of wine accidentally splashed. Red if possible.

I would paint the toe nails my favourite colour .... ( insert hideous green deck colour) when caught I would ... simply say sorry I though they were my nails!

In future I suggest anyone who witnesses these, report these scumbags to airport security, it would be nice if they were monitored in future.

Airport authorities and airlines are well aware of these tactics. And in part, if US immigration wasn't so slow, there might not be a need for it. I flew an OZ flight from ICN to ORD a couple years back... one wheelchair to board, 26 to deplane. Queues for immigration took close to three hours to clear. Wheelchairs were through within the hour. I missed my connection. Any of those who had them didn't.

That is absolutely disgusting.
Some of these people need to be physically harmed so they need use of a wheelchair.

Most of them were seniors. They weren't 25 year olds. I was more jealous than angry. Although i specifically mentioned it to the OZ rep by way of complaint after I missed my connection. The OZ rep said there's nothing they can do.. if a wheelchair is requested they must provide it. I muttered something about me doing the same next time and the OZ rep didn't argue :shock:

Fair point about them being senior citizens, I wouldn't be too bothered about that.

It's just a touchy subject as I see far too many people using disabled bays that are not disabled and I don't mind asking them what their disability is.

Close to my Sydney office is notorious for disability permit parking abuse. It also happens to be nearby Barangaroo. You wouldn't believe the number of tradies utes with those permits. I guess it is entirely possibly someone working on a building site could have a disability (I mean its easy to injure yourself, makes sense). But still...

I haven't seen too many chairs wheeled on-and-off in Oz, but in the US yes its an epidemic and also includes those golf carts carting people around airports who apparently can't walk through them. The carts stop and they seem to be able to walk 5 metres at the gates.

A person requiring wheelchair assistance once asked for and was assigned my bulkhead seat on a 767 flight SYD-MEL. I was told she had come from LAX and was connecting to ADL. Elderly passenger. It appeared she also had the only shadow on the flight.

When we got off in MEL she could not be seen. There was no wheelchair. She must have run when she got off aircraft.

People can be extremely selfish.
