Would you teleport to your destination if the option was available?

I am sorry sir but the Teleport option to LHR is down today (affected by the Optus outage?). However we do have one seat left in PE .........

100% teleport for me. All the FF perks, the 'benefits' of J or F are all simply a putting lipstick on a pig for me. They make an unpleasant experience marginally (or a little more than marginally) better.

Why would I opt for a lie flat J seat, being buffeted by turbulence, trying to fall asleep while the guy in 3A is snoring and farting away, instead of a king bed at The Savoy? Or a Neil Perry "special" instead of a reservation at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal? Or losing a day each way to travel?

I'd quite happily skip the airport experience.
The flying, well, sometimes would be nice to skip, but on the other hand, sometimes its a bit of downtime....

I would very much use the teleport option instead of an airplane. The plane trip is just to get me somewhere.

I love flying but live in a regional town. So I have to fly to Adelaide, then sometimes to Melbourne before I can even get on the plane to fly somewhere overseas. Adding in float for missed connections with only 2 flights a day to Adelaide; the time and hotel costs add up.
If I could teleport from here then I would, if I still had to go to Melbourne I'd continue by plane.

Would it come with frequent flyer miles.
The Jetlag would be pretty bad, although could get there do what you need to do then come back sounds good.

Teleportation miles instead.

I actually could see if you're doing short trips for work to have less jetlag. You just essentially not adjust and then teleport back after work.

If you're there for a while then sure, but I always found it easier to adjust with a day or two on the ground than in the air.

As convenient as it would be sometimes just to get from A to B in an instant, I think I would miss the joy of flying - particularly in premium cabins, and when first class lounges are involved. I also think I'd probably miss the points & status credits game - although you don't really need status credits if you have the ability to remove the hassles of waiting in airports etc. in another way.

I would probably use a hybrid - teleport when time is of the essence (e.g. if a relative was dying) and fly for enjoyment.
My thoughts exactly. If I really had to be there quickly, I would teleport. But I too usually enjoy most of the flying experience in premium cabins, so I would definitely miss that if I always teleported.

I wonder how jetlag would be affected by teleporting?

Yup teleporting for me - but my first thought was would you still get jet lag? I think someone needs to get Elon working on this - take his mind off X and AI.

I would not expect so, as it is instant you would schedule to leave/arrive at optimal time.

As a night owl I don't really suffer jetlag, I think because I'm used to having to get up and function at a time my body doesnt want to because morning people set the timetable for business.

Ah here's another consideration - if teleporting is "instantaneous" (of course it can't be faster than the speed of light/particles) then the cost should be independent of distance. Would you arrive younger than you than when you left?

This has been the story of my life! Left to my own devices, I would like to go to bed about 2 am and get up at 10 or 10.30 every day - and society shames me for this. I hate it!!

Say that it cost $1,000 for a one-way Economy ticket on Emirates from Sydney to London.

You could teleport or book Emirates Premium Economy for $2,500 one-way.

Or, you could book Emirates Business for $5,000 one-way or First for $7,500 one-way. Flying an A380.

Which would you choose?
Oh teleport at those prices, no doubt at all.

Even if PE got lounge access, which in this case it doesn’t, the lounge access is mostly about softening the sleepless hours trapped in a tiny cubicle with nothing to do if you’ve paid $5k+ or trapped in a torture-chair with nothing to do if you’ve paid less than $5k. I mean yeah the physical pain is much reduced if you paid for PE, but the torture of zero sleep with nowhere to go & nothing you can do is still there.

You know what? Let’s set aside the Star Trek tech, if they’d club me over the head with a hefty spanner about 10 minutes after take-off, and I wouldn’t come back to consciousness until the cabin doors were opened at the other end, THAT would be a service I’d pay for. The waiting, the queues, transport to & from the airport is all fine … it’s that fake-night torture onboard that hurts most!

100% the flight is a necessary evil for me...we do J class all o/s trips not because we like flying but to make the flying haul bearable (and even really nice)....but my preference would be to be in Europe in an instant. Everyone else's MMV!

Definitely teleport, would just Teleport to Japan for every meal
Sounds great, but unless you own a legal teleporter, I assume you'd still have to pay for the trip.

There may be a discount if someone could just yeet the food through the teleporter. The atmosphere wouldn't be the same 🙂
