Would you teleport to your destination if the option was available?

No teleporting for me !
Flying is a leisure activity for me these days and I enjoy the whole experience.
The queues, the pushing and shoving to get the "first off the aircraft " prize,
the security checks, the sometimes not interested airline staff, the cancelled flights,
the lost luggage, long layovers in airports and etc.
Then there is the "game", collecting points, using points - although it appears to be
a " pointless " exercise as time goes on.
These days we manage a couple of overseas and numerous interstate trips a year
in various cabin classes and each and every one of them can be good or bad but
I love them all !
To quote the philosopher Emerson :
"It's not the destination, it's the journey "

Several questions here @Mattg

  • Where do you teleport from/to? As in is it a central point in each city, like an airport, or is it close to home?
  • Are there FTP (Frequent Teleporter Programs) where we can earn points to redeem on future trips?
  • Can you travel together as a family unit? and is there a discount for doing so?

As it stands, a Flex PE fare is currently well out my price range to buy 4 tickets for, so no we would not be teleporting. Now this is only a single data point, but I had a look at the the dates we're planning for a US trip and the Flex PE fare is ~$10k/person and the Y sale is ~$3k. Multiply that by 4 and there's no way we would be paying an extra $28k to be there instantly as much as I'd prefer that with 2 small children.

So to summarize, only if I can pay with points, as that's pretty much the only way we can fly in a premium cabin

Teleporting should be able to be done through an Airline's app on the phone.

Teleporting does not require security checks
But Teleporting can only teleport x kg. If the bags are too heavy only a part of the bag is teleported.

Ive been asking for the Stargate to be release for us civilians for years - still waiting

But I still want F & J lines for the Stargate.

I imagine this is what Y Stargate would be like

For me, it would depend on the purpose of the trip.

1. Business meeting OR short holiday - then teleport there, have meeting/see a few sights and teleport home

2. Extended holiday - I'd enjoy the time flying J or F as part of my holiday

The flying would be a variation of cruising or overnight railway where I would enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

Good questions @TomVexille...

As it's a teleport, you can literally go from anywhere to anywhere else - including directly from your own home.

  • Are there FTP (Frequent Teleporter Programs) where we can earn points to redeem on future trips?

Nope! No points or status credits and you have to pay for each teleport.

  • Can you travel together as a family unit? and is there a discount for doing so?

Yes, you can travel together but there is no discount.

Agreed. If it was the lowest PE fare, then it becomes much more possible, but flex is in J fare territory.
The dollar figures presented aren't currently in J fare territory ... I've not seen a return J fare for $5k on Emirates to anywhere much further than New Zealand since ... well possibly "forever", but not since the start of 2020 at least. Certainly not to Europe, checking just now it's ~$5400/pax return to UK mid-March at the cheapest with EK for PE, cheapest J was ~$10.5k.

That'll be cheapest PE, the scenario is Fully Flexible PE. So having a look at EK in min March SYD-LHR is ~$7500 which is more expensive than some other airlines in J.

I don't think a "fly another airline instead" answer was quite in the spirit of the original question. :)

The dollar amounts I quoted at the start of this thread were one-way, but they were really just intended as a rough guide.

The premise of the question is: would you be willing (or even happy) to skip the whole airport and flying experience if you could, or is the journey just as important to you as the destination?

Yes - I just want to get there

Are there infant fares Available? Is their a low cost carrier, or is it a single enterprise?

Surely once the technology is implemented, the greatly reduced infrastructure (airports, link roads, airport trains, planes) and the need for very few qualified staff would mean the price would come crashing down quickly?

Also if I wear a really big coat would the teleporter be able to tell that I’m hiding my wife inside, therefore negating the need to buy two tickets? Surely for teleportation you wouldn’t need security checkpoints and body scanners? Or can you be hijacked mid teleport?
