WP perks when in whY

I find that I get no love as a wp flying qf or BA in Y.
But for some reason do get the love as an emerald flying AA,LA, and CX? Love in this instance translates to op ups and personal greetings. Not sure why qf don't seem to want to share the love with me? Do they instead opt to do the same for emerald flyers of other airlines?

I never get any love from AA in Y. In fact, I can't even get an aisle or window, I always get a seat in the middle of 3, even if I have one on my booking. Very weird.

Still never been op up'd from Y as WP in Dom or int on any OW airline. Not sure what the trick is? I fly on completely full flights with spare J seats, and the other guy I usually travel with gets op up'd 50% of the time.

On QF in whY as a WP (was dropped to SG in 2010), I regularly was offered the following:

- Greeting fro CSM
- Newspaper
- Express cards for immigration

On occasion I would be offered:

- J or even F class amenity kits
- Spirits/wine from the J or F cabin
- Bottle of spirits classed as "duty free" but not paid for, for taking off the flight
- Bottle of wine, once again classed as "duty free" but not paid for for taking off the flight
Both the above cases were always bottles for inflight service, not actual duty free but placed into a DF bag for the benefit, I presume, or surrounding passengers.

In terms of the free amenity kits or alcohol, I would say this was offered on about 50% of flights I took in whY, more frequently on flights to the USA, or back.

Great unwritten perks. Just need to get the WP back now.

Wow, it's amazing some of the things fellow WP members receive..

I have been QC Life sine 05, when I made silver, gold in 08, then plat at start 2010.

In that time I have had 0 non requested point upgrades, agree that the welcomes are hit and miss. However I did get a points upgrade from J to F in October 2010 on the 388 Syd to LAX.

Will take a greater mental note over the next few months

Wow indeed. Very impressive, dgoody2. I've had one QF CSM greet me in Y on an international flight - except it was the domestic leg of an international flight. CX, 2 for 2 (or, more correctly, Dragonair). Once, on a flight from SIN-PER in QF Y, I wasn't greeted as was feeling peeved because I wanted a J amenity kit for my Ma so I pushed the call button and when the FA arrived I said 'I must have been sleeping when the CSM came to introduce herself. Would it be possible to see her now?' Along she came and I ended up with a male and female kit.

Love your work!

Very impressive. I haven't scored free bottles of booze in a DF bag flying any class!

Domestic - have had one op up and one CSM greeting in whY in 2 years. I was pretty bowled over by my sole CSM greeting (sitting in row 4 on 738) - she greeted Mrs G and I and then gave baby G a cuddle.

Internationally haven't flown whY since WP. Even in Y+ though it is a bit hit or miss, sometimes greetings, amenity kits etc and sometimes not. Seems to depend on where crew is based and how full the flight is.

The best way to ensure that you get a CSM greeting and other perks is to avoid ever flying whY!

So far, no recognition and no in flight perks. I've scored a few ODU's but that was also the case when I was QP NB.

Hope I find it better on my next DONE4.

well rest assured, in a media release recently, Mr Qantas "AJ" did say that the elite members will be experiencing "enhanced level of customer service/ inflight experience" so i gather all WPs will be greeted more often inflight. Then again it depends on whose definition of "enhanced" is used, Qantas or the oxford dictionary :D

Enhanced customer service would suggest the greeting will be removed.

Flew HNL-SYD last year in Y class, and received a really nice welcome from the CSM just after takeoff... as a SG - quite unexpected at the time, but a really nice touch!

Just reading this, i'm not WP and don't ever see myself becoming one unfortuantely... But would people on this site want QF management or a rep to read these sorts of threads and all of the AFF site in general...

I think i read Redroo works at QF but don't know in what capacity, but i would assume a senior manager in the customer service section could garner quite a bit of useful intelligence perusing threads like this on a regular basis about what frequent flyers want and what they are not happy with etc...

for example the greeting on the plane costs nothing to implement, a number of people here are quite happy and pleasently surprised when it occurs or small service offereings are made and the inconsistency of it is annoying... so a simple directive to CSM/FA to be mindful of this in the challenging competitive environment would be quite a cheap improvement...

I'm not sure about the QF management reading all the tricks to maximise points on offers and some of this other stuff... :)

Interesting... Who knows!? I am currently on an amazing run of op-ups... Maybe this is the start ;) (jokes but half wishing!!)
