WP treatment in Y

Never had recognition as a WP on domestic flights but almost always on international flights (in Y specifically).

I can confirm as per the OP that this plain old WP had HVC on my JQ BP last month ;)

I avoid Jet* on principle but I did need to fly them to Avalon last weekend and will be flying them again on 28/3 to the sunshine coast.

No greeting or recognition last weekend. My BP says "EXIT HVC LEGX QFFP VOSA WCID WCIS" so HVC was in there - I am "plain old WP" too.

A few weeks ago we had an issue with our boarding passes, as we had paid for bundle and it didn't the V05 code on it. The crew on the way from SYD-LST wouldn't do anything about it, and just said phone and complain. A few days later we were flying back and my partner went to the Jetstar check in at LST to see if they could do anything. I had already set myself up comfortably in the lounge. Afterall it wouldn't take two of us to discuss. As the check in staff were tapping away one asks the other what HVC stands for in the PNR. They confirmed that HVC means High Value Customer and was a recent addition. I am WP, and partner now regrets telling me.

But interestingly, I had to fly SYD-AVV-SYD the other day, and on the way there I was I was HVC and on the way back I wasn't.

On a BNE-SYD flight last month FAs had hand written card on food trollly with names to give personal greeting but was very surprised to get a goodbye by name as I left the plane - no idea how they would remember your name by the end of the flight. Not expected but a very nice touch. Have a JQ flight tomorrow so will see what happens. Mine is a starter plus fare and HVC is on the BP.

Is is possible that the HVC does mean high value but actually refers to the specific trip or fare? So if I've bought a bundle or a flexi, then paid again for the better seats I'm a HVC compared to the person who just went online and bought the cheapest ticket for the same flight. That would make more sense to me than referencing my QFF status.

Yesterday, for the first time, on a MEL-BNE dinner flight received a "personal greeting, along with Mr 4D. But more importantly, later in the flight it was suggested that "You might prefer this" as a glass of red from the front magically appeared :)

Firstly, welcome to WP! May you enjoy being addressed formally and utilising the PB line in Dom. Where it works.

I personally cannot wait for them to swap the HNL Route to an A330. I havent gone to hawaii just for that reason! 11hrs on a 767. I do love the old birds, but no thanks.

I know what you mean! I have to be in HNL in December and I'm seriously considering going MEL-LAX-HNL instead of direct on the 767. Or maybe I should try the milk run on FJ via Apia and Kiritimati on the way back:shock:

The A330's will be on the HNL route by December

Unfortunately they could be the older A330's that dont' have personal TV's or you might get one of the first ones to be refitted with the new interiors

Once QF has the new interior A330's running on the HNL route, it will be by far the best product flying to HNL from Aus and even the USA as well. I am pretty sure all USA carriers use "domestic" configured aircraft to/from HNL for pretty much all flights ?

AA has long haul config 767-300 on it's 2 daily HNL-DFW flights

What's the AA long-haul 767 like?

I'll dig up some happy snaps but it's pretty good.

I did the red eye getting into DFW at 0600, slept well on it (angled lie flat) but service was good.

Price for the YUPP was fantastic too!

I did DFW-HNL on AA123 on my way in.
Sat in MCE, pretty decent room for Y
Not to take this off topic but...The attendants on the other hand
A girl politely asked what was for sale (on this 8 hour flight) and got the reply "well it's what they just said on the announcement"

Was travelling with my daughter yesterday QF23 to BKK. Got the greeting at the door, and then after take off got the greeting from Steve at our seat. Usual spiel, asked if anything was needed and I asked him if my daughter could have a noise cancelling headset (I have my own) and this was promptly brought back. Several hours later well after the Y dinner service, Wendy came back, gave us a new greeting and asked if there was anything that my daughter and I would like from the front. Not being a drinker, I said we were fine, but she came back with hot chocolates for us made up in the J service ware. I asked if the Premium Lane cards for arrival had been handed out yet but she said that they didn't have enough on board even for all the J passengers. She said she was really sorry, but then as she turned to leave said "you know what, I'll get the captain to call ahead for some to be brought to the gate". Sure enough, when we landed an announcement was made over the PA for all Platinum passengers in the Y cabin to see Wendy on the way out as "she has something for you".

Red Roo - please pass on our thanks for the great service we got yesterday from Wendy and Steve. QF'S major announcement during the week (the supposedly simpler and fairer one) has now made it simple for me to start thinking about moving to other carriers. It is only the people like Wendy and Steve who are making it hard.

It is worth leaving feedback via the QF site, if you haven't already. I must admit I have had some tremendous service in long haul Y with QF over the last year. In reality I have received little actual "stuff" but I have been made to feel like a valued customer. It doesn't cost QF much to add a few nice touches to the service FF's receive.

Conversely when they get it wrong they are very poor...but that at least seems to be less frequent these days. Hopefully QF will recognise the value of Wendy and Steve and use them as a benchmark for service. :)

I agree completely.

I've only had one long-haul trip since achieving 'elite' status with QF, and that was as a SG. I was made to feel valued and special -- certainly much more so than on my weekly coast-to-coast domestic flights as a WP over the last year, where I almost always seem to go unnoticed.

I wish I was able to fly QFi more often. I was very impressed then and I'm looking forward to my first long-haul QF flights as a WP.

mrpooky.
