Does QF do a YUp (or similar) type fare?
if so how do I find it? I've found discounted business fares on intl flights but they still aren't as cheap as I'd like to see

No Y-up on QF
If you want cheaper don't fly QF or watch for sales. Buying QF into Aust in can be cheaper than the return ex Aust (i.e. buy 2 one ways)

Unlikely!

The "Instant Upgrade"/"Non refundable" type fares often referred to as YUPP's or KUPP's are peculiarity of the First Class situation in the USA.

With the heavy competition and the availability of "Space Available" upgrades for a carrier's elites in the USA, First Class has rather devolved.

So much that, for example, AA only credit a 50% increase in status (EQP) for travel in these F/A/P fares over those of discount economy. QFF on the other hand allow a 500% increase in status earn (SC's) for these.
