You can leave Australia from November, but can you get back?

I think ITA Matrix requires that origin airports (but not destination airports) all be in the same country? If there's a workaround for that I am intrigued.
Yeah, limited to within the same country now - which is a bit of PITA. The work around for say Europe is do each main country separately to see what you can find eg LON+ UK airports, Germany - BER, MUC, FRA etc

But what I was alluding to earlier is you can search say SYD-LON (ret) but put in a bunch of other "nearby" locations in Europe and you should see options into the UK and out of another country. You will of course see options into/out of non-UK ports - but they can be interesting also.

I had a 3 month trip to Germany using Krisflyer miles in Business Class all set for April 2019, which I obviously had to scrap, then re-booked using those miles again for a September 2020 trip; also scrapped, now have been allowed to re-use the same miles a 3rd time for an April 2022 departure and mid-July return on SQ flights to/from Munich via Changi. I had to pay a re-deposit fee each time but the miles were not lost. Singapore Airlines, as always, was very efficient and friendly. and I have my seats chosen and the four eTickets issued and everything looks "normal."

I had an August 2020 J awards on SQ which I have just changed for the 5th time.

NSW will now allow international arrivals.
Double vaccinated and negative PCR test and you are all set.
ADL might get some more international carriers apart from current 2 so my hopes are now higher.
So return via NSW.

Adelaide is in prime position to become the next Australian city for direct flights to Japan once international borders open.
The state government has been engaged in discussions with international airlines about operating a direct passenger route from Adelaide to Tokyo, which would serve more than 63,000 people a year.
The push has been backed by Japan’s top diplomat in Australia, Shingo Yamagami, who said it would boost economic relations between South Australia and Japan.
“If an Adelaide to Tokyo direct flight were to be offered, I personally believe it would have very positive consequences for the Australia-Japan economic relationship and increase the level of cultural exchange through tourism between our nations,” he said.

For travel to/from the US, Fiji Airways have opened their flights and you can get very cheap deals if you don't mind stopping at NAN.

SYD-LAX return about $1500 mid December; one way in either direction about $1000.

I've been sorely tempted by these flights given the very high airfares on offer elsewhere. Does anyone know what the arrangements are like in NAN during Covid? Is there at least a reasonable waiting area with proper ventilation, food options, etc.?

Getting back to Western Australia could be difficult.
 
I booked SYD-LHR-SYD when the December flights were loaded by QF last month and the prices were fine. A few days later they began to escalate once LHR-SYD started booking up with returning Aussies. I rolled the dice believing things would change rapidly which they have ;)
