5. You’ve watched a sunrise without having slept the night before.

What are yours?

(five only please and as this is AFF, at least one must be flying/travel related!)

Clearly we live a much safer life now after two big mistakes.
Body surfed a 27 foot wave in California.
Came off a motorized skateboard in Shanghai onto concrete.
Have knee and shoulder aches to remind me about stupid moves.
Meanwhile we introduced our family to flying up front of the plane and it is hard to go back.
Never tried to cross the road in Taipei but thought about it until a truck ran thru a red light.

I have helped local cross the road in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Yangon.
Just walk out with your hand up and signal everyone to follow you.
Crossing the road in HCM so much worse then other Vietnamese cities.
My strategy is to follow an old lady and stare at her back. Not try to watch everywhere and doge traffic like in Sydney

2. I have also driven around the Arc de Triomphe. Six times.
3. I have spent nearly 2 hours watching courtship rituals of birds in the Galapagos. first blue footed coughies and about 5 minute after that a pair of gannets which was spectacular. And both occurred right at my feet. The guide said I wasn't to move. No worries I wasn't going to do so.
4. Walking in a little village in Japan with my 8 year old son when neither of us had a single word of Japanese and no locals had any English but ended up having lunch in an elderly couples house.
5. appearing in photos around Burma and Japan. In Burma I was asked if they could take my photo more often than the reverse. In Japan invited to join the wedding photo session on several occasions.

What a great thread

For me
  1. Driven on the wrong side of the road
  2. Stood on every continent
  3. Travelled before a mobile phone or internet connection
  4. Arrived in Moscow to find your tour company has gone bankrupt
  5. You’ve had a shower at 35,000 feet

Oh as to the OP - gone are the days where I would get home at daylight and have a shower and go to work.
Loving some of the others and I guess you could always add survived a major health scare when I was only 22 and changed my outlook on life and one of the reasons I will always keep travelling
