Aren't the q-tags FF member-specific? Besides buying them off eBay is sorta cheating. It's like putting a Rolls hood ornament on a Hyundai or Skoda

No they are basically an oversized microchip (like in your dog/cat). Its number is only scanned when you check-in and is linked to your PNR for that flight. You can give the Qtag to anyone.

Yes, I do that too. But I also save the Qantas envelopes for The UNICEF Change for Good program, and when I come across some cash from a place I know we wont go back to I put it in the envelope and try to remember to take it with me on our next flight !!
