You know you're addicted to flying when...

When you are on a first name basis with Qantas Club barmen in more than one city!

You wonder how long Telstra has been involved with GulfStream - then you realise its 3G not G3

You're constantly dreaming about your next escape away from work to fly somewhere... and you've only been back at work 1 day since your last escape

When your colleagues no longer are really interested in how your trip was, because it's your third big trip this year ... and it's only April.

When you have to stop yourself mouthing the words to the Qantas safety demo in sync with the video because you know it off by heart and it's like one of those songs that get stuck in your head.

When you go to a travel show ... and leave within about 10 minutes because none of the specials are "specials" to you, and you have already been to quite a few of the overseas locations being advertised.

When you use your Frequent Flyer card more often than one of the credit cards in your wallet, or medicare card and it stays in there semi-permanently.

When your FF card has more magstrip damage on it from use than your credit card.

When you're on that many email lists for Airlines, Hotels and similar organisations that you receive more Flight offers than personal emails.

You know the attendants by sight, and you request a different seat because you know that seat on that plane has a faulty headset plug!

try more than one country

a couple of days ago walking into SQ lounge the barman recognised me (despite not having visited for a few months) and had my drink ready for me before I even reached the bar :p

When you know by heart the number of your 4 main FFPs and have a small card in your wallet listing the rest, just in case will come in handy.

When you know at a particular airport to take the passage to the other entrance/exit because at that time of day the queues will be much shorter there.

My medicare card hasnt been in my wallet for months (years?) and teh AA card is never out and is joined by QF when in the US.

... when you know the counties your Medicare card may be of some use in without looking it up. :p

OT: I always carry my Medicare card when overseas. Australia has some Reciprocal Health Care Agreements with several counties: Medicare Australia - :: Travelling Overseas::

In a similar vein to some of the others, you look at the weather forecasts on the news tickers of the TV breakfast programmes and think to yourself "they should use BNE instead of BRIS, CBR instead of CAN, HBA instead of HOB" etc, etc.

..when your work hosts a "Travel Expo" (with key suppliers exhibiting and giving out freebies) and Qantas are there with a competition where you have to answer 10 questions about Qantas and OneWorld...

...and you don't need to look up the answers.

:(

when you realise you cannot recall the last flight on an airline that you did NOT have a familiar FA or pilot onboard

when the check in agent remembers you and asks where I've been since we last met a couple of months ago, and it takes a few minutes to answer that

when the customs guy asks for places visited recently and you have to clarify what time period - when he says last 6 months you realise it's going to take a while

I thought I would reignite this old thread....

"When you turn down an OS work trip because you dont like that airline!"

Mr!

:D

When the QF Flounge waiter at MEL remembers you - though I think that's partly due to the amount of champers/wine I drink whenever I visit.:lol:

When your pulled over regularly by the lady at the explosives test machine, so she can update you on her family activities !

Cheers Dee

When you have had more explosive tests than the operator of the machine and tell them how to do it properly.

When you refer to a particular seat on an aircraft (eg. 4A) as your seat!

  • You get a pat down at an international secondary screening point, instead of thinking, "This is such an invasion of privacy!" you're thinking, "This tickles!"
  • You've got your whole process of going through screening down to a streamlined routine such that you can pass through without missing a beat.
  • You know of the secret entrance to the QPs at SYD T1 and use it all the time.
  • You know exactly when to leave the lounges so that you've got the most time in the lounge but make it just in time before the flight closes for further boarding (after all, only suckers leave the lounge at the first boarding call......); this is especially "fun" when you're doing this with someone who is used to leaving the lounge at the first boarding call or earlier...
  • You know the in-flight menu items and the cycles off by heart because you've eaten each one at least three times.
