I'm well down this year. 85 sectors.
EDIT ... I just asked my nephew how many he's done. 444!

I have been flying a bit more then I normally would. Not much by most AFFers standards but then again, I only fly for leisure, never for business. It is picking up a bit as I have planned a lot more holidays for next year then I would have and that is a lot thanks to AFF :)

56,006 miles
Most flown Airline: QF x11

A big thanks to everyone on AFF who helped us fly more in premium cabins this year :) Bring on 2017

Just finished my flying year on Christmas Eve. A biggish year by my low standards.

With 67 flights I flew slightly less in 2016 than last year, but still got to visit a lot of new destinations and try out quite a few new airlines. I'm also starting to fly in premium cabins a bit more, which I never would have imagined I'd be able to do a few years ago!

New airports visited in 2016: CMB, STN, EDI, LPL, MAN, EIN, BUD, LIS, MAD, PMI, DUS, DPS, HKG, SCL, BSB, SSA, MVD, LST, AYQ, WAG
Airlines flown for the first time: D7, UL, BE, W6, IB, EW, ET, CI, 2I, CV, SQ
Best J flight: UL503 - CMB-LHR
Best Y flight: QF423 - a SYD-MEL flight of all things
Worst flight: JQ38 - the DPS-SYD redeye, an awful experience even in J!

I have no idea yet what next year will bring, but I'm hoping to have visited 50 countries by the end of 2017. Not too far off now!

Work travel has slowed down substantially over the last 4 months or so and looking to stay that way in 2017 so most of next years travel will be for leisure, looking forward to that for sure.

Here's my flight map for 2016. Turning into a corporate slave this year has certainly helped bump the stats up.
2016map.gif

Sectors: 84
Miles: 105,273
Flight Time: 230 hours, 10 minutes (9.6 days)
Airlines: AA (54), DL (20), BA (4), RC (2, new), QF (2), WS (1), VA (1)
Airports: MIA (36), JFK (34), LGA (24), PHX (6), LAX (6), PHL (5) .. new ones include LCY, KEF, FAE, EDI, DTW, FLL, SLC, DEN, MSY, BDA, BGR, YUL, PHL, MCO

Cabin: 53Y, 1W, 30J/F

Highlights include:
  • My first 787 ride (finally!)
  • EDI-FAE on Atlantic Airways (with an insane crosswind landing to boot)
  • 1 from 1 J op-up on JFK-LHR red-eye
  • JFK-LAX 321T in F

Happy new year to all!

Other than the FASA ,JASA and double SC periods that is a lot of paid for tickets to get up near 100,000 status credits. I think I started figuring out redemption flights when ANZ introduced the Qantas TELSTRA Visa credit card. Almost free flights really got going for us so neither of us are anywhere near these figures.

Definitely had my biggest year of travel yet:

210,996 miles (339,565 km)
87 Sectors

Covered a fair bit of extra distance compared to last year but only up 3 sectors. I've been doing a lot of travel from London to Sydney and the US West Coast.

New Airports: JTR (Santorini) and FAB (London-Farnborough)
New Airline: NH (F)

Mostly sectors were on LH, LX, SQ and then QF

I'd actually like to slow down a little in 2017, but the FF goal there is to hit LH HON Circle to access F Lounges and limo services in Europe, which I hope to do by the middle of the year :)

The last of my 2016 flights have been flown ... ended up with 44 sectors for a total of 71,685mi.

The most pleasing stats - 63% of the flights were leisure, and 76% of the distance was first or business.

Easily the most flights I've done in a year - travel bug finally caught up with me and I headed O/S for the first time in years and also revisited a few local spots.

Hoping to make it to the US in the latter half of this year after a bit of travel in AU/NZ for the first.

I ended the year on 30 December with 149 flights with most in economy.

Easily the most number of sectors in a year for me. Not sure of the distance travelled. I did have 9 trips to Thailand. I managed to maintain Qantas Platinum as well as Virgin Gold and re-qualified IHG Platinum and Accor Gold.
