43 segments for 123,000 km / 76,000 miles ( lowest tally since 2010 :( )
27 airports, 12 airlines, 16 countries

New countries and airports:
Iran/IKA
Greece/ATH
Tahiti/FA'AA
Bermuda/BDA
Jamaica/KIN
Easter Island/IPC (OK, not a country but near enough :) )

Other new airports Ronald Reagan DCA; Stavanger SVG, Seoul ICN

Only two trips in 2017

Per/Kul/Per on MH.

No new airports or countries.

The big trip was Per/Sin/Hel/Dublin return. The Sin/Dublin loop was to be on AY in J after buying sale fares..

The AY flight Sin/Hel was cancelled so we got transferred to QR via Doha. So we got our first A350, a new airline & and two new airports in two flights.

So in 2017 we used three new airports - Doha, Helsinki & Dublin. Two new airlines in QR & AY. A new aircraft type and visited new countries in Finland, Estonia & Ireland.

A year of BA travel for me with basically all new airport visits:

40 segments, 27000 miles

New airports: ARN, PRG, MAD, DUS, FCO, BCN, LGW, SVQ, ALC, BRU, PSA, NCE, LUX, MUC, VLC, AGP, LCY, VIE, BSL, LIN, BUD

Shortest: LHR-BRU at 218 miles

As a side note, I was caught up in the LHR BA disaster yesterday so BA589 got diverted to Bournemouth so can add BOH technically.

I will add my statistics:

Segments: 25 (Y:9, J:16)
Miles: 46829 (92% in J), all leisure
New countries: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia (the last two by road)
New airports: LYS, MXP, TIA, AYQ, ASP
New airlines: Hop! (the Jetstar of Air France), BluePanorama (BV)

Memorable failures:
Our MH flight out of MEL was delayed by 9 hours, causing us to miss the connection to our BA F flight to LHR. This was an AA award in Z class and MH insisted that Z class on their flights was only business class! They did not want to consider an op-up, even though seats were available. I searched for other F options, but all BA flights out of KUL and SIN were full. At least AA refunded the miles difference between F and J. So we got to LHR on another delayed MH flight, arriving around 11 pm. MH organised a hotel for us, as we had missed the last flight to our destination LYS. We went to bed at midnight, with the alarm set for 4 am to catch the first flight out, our shortest hotel stay ever!

BluPanorama (MXP-TIA) was also not a success. Mrs. jxv was denied boarding at MXP because her middle names were not on the ticket. We were told that was a new government requirement. She was allowed on after payment of a name change fee of $75 (the ticket cost $120 originally). I had paid extra for seats in row 2, but we were shifted to row 25 because the lightly loaded B737 had to be balanced. We had severe turbulence for the entire 2.5 hours duration of the flight, so we did not get anything to eat or drink.

On the positive side:
We have been able to travel the majority of our flights in the comfort of J, thanks to the information provided by AFF members on this forum!

I hope they transferred you to QR J and not downgraded you to Y? ;)

They were going to put us in CX Y but I didn't accept that "offer", then they came back with QR J. It was excellent in the A350 Sin/Doha and the A321 J Doha/Helsink was also great and better than the couple of J flights we did on QF around 2004 ( B767 & A330 Per/Sin/Per Skybed Mk1 & Dreamtime).

We liked QR so much we are using their "companion special fares" to fly Sin/Doha/Barcelona/Doha/Per next year.
