17 sectors for me. No idea of miles but would like to work it out one day

New airports VCE, SVQ, LIG, VRN

Highlights - F from ADL to DXB then LHR in Emirates (first time with Emirates)
Reward J upgrade to F from Qantas from LHR to DXB (unsolicited)

Lowlight - Emirates 777 J class DXB to ADL - no PJs and not very comfortable.

I have friends who have paid to do F from MEL to LHR - cost them about $28k but they can afford it

A very quiet one for me too this year, but ironically my most interesting one. Changed jobs mid way through the year to one with no travel at all, plus the old job was winding down my domestic travel (but would have given me a good few Intl sectors tho :()

Sectors: 12
Miles: No idea
New Countries: Malaysia (technically I've transited through and overnighted in KUL before, but I was 2 and don't remember it) New Zealand
New Airports: Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Queenstown
New Airlines: Malaysian Airlines (again, flew when I was 2 but no memory), Air New Zealand

We do have a holiday booked over New Year/early Jan, so I will be adding 2 more sectors and a new airport (Munich) before the end of the year

At least 47 flights, no idea of miles, several new countries, quite a few revisited countries, several new airlines, a lot revisited, I'm a bit over Bangkok immigration, even fast track!

New airlines, Lao Airlines, Silk Air, Air Brussels, Jetstar Japan,.

New airports, Chiang Mai, Luang Prabang, Pakse, Siem Reap, Berlin Tegel, Brussels, Osaka, Narita, Oporto

.Long time between visits, Manchester, last time was 1981, Kuala Lumpur, last time was 1985, Haneda, last time was 1983,

New countries, Laos, Cambodia. Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary.

Slight reduction for me in flights as i switched to domestic markets from the Middle East.

Segments: 73 (70 in Y, 1 in PE, 2 in Business)
Miles: 64,851
New country: Timor-Leste and Solomon Islands
New airlines: Rex, Air North, Solomon Airlines, Hainan, Air China, Dragonair, Citilink Indonesia

Lowlight: MEL-XIY on Hainan in Y with no AVOD.

I have been following the threads on here for many years but never got around to joining in. So Hello from Melbourne
I am now retired so have been travelling a bit for the past few years.
This year I managed 5 trips to the USA in 11 months all Business class. One to NYC and 4 to Florida.
The only problem has been that Qantas does not have any connection to get me to Panana City Beach, Florida so I have to use Southwest.
No complaints about the airline the problem is when Qantas cancels a flight or is running very behind I miss my flight. So far Southwest have done their best to get me on the next available which sometimes is the next day!!!
One occasion it was after midnight and I was in LAX trying to find a hotel with a bed. All the usual ones were full but a friend said try Hotwire and it found me one close by
Next trip is to Gatwick on Emirates using points in Business in February, with a side trip
On a cheap airline to Paphos Cyprus. Not travelled Emirates before but have heard they are OK. Gatwick suits me better than Heathrow as it is easier to get to my sister, so am hoping all goes well

2017 has been another interesting year of flying for me.

Segments: 67
New airports: CNS, KIX, CTS, HND, cough, ICN, GMP, CJU, ARM, TMW, DUD, BEG, ALA, TSE, TBS, GYD, DOH, BNK, BHQ, MQL, LDH
New countries: South Korea, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Qatar
New airlines: GK, MM, JW, OZ, KE, OD, AK, JU, KC, QR, ZL
Best flight: LH646 (FRA-TSE)
Worst flight: JQ16 (KIX-CNS)

I expect 2018 to be another exciting year of travel, including a lot more travel around Europe.

Segments: 29 - all domestic in Y, all international in J
New airports: 9 (AKL, WLG, CHC, ZQN, PRG, DUB, ORY, KOH, HND)
New airlines: Hawaiian
New Locations: Prague, Dublin, Kona, Tokyo, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown

All my own money apart from 4 domestic legs paid for by the non-profit I volunteer for!

I have just taken my last flight for the year, so thought I would check what I have managed this year.

Segments: 51 (2 of which were work related)
Miles: 70967
New country: Japan
New airlines: Skippers, JL, NH
New airports: NRT, HND, CVQ, DNM
Shortest flight: DNM-CVQ (70 miles)

All my flights were within Australasia this year.

The most notable occasion was turning up to WLG and catching a flight I had actually booked.:oops:;)

With a little luck, 2018 should see me tick over LTG with QF.

edit: added new airlines

Rough tally - still flying.....

Segments: 150
Miles: 200,000? (actually about 410,000km - whats the conversion?)
New countries: South Korea.
New airlines: Asiana.
Most obscure airport: COG - look it up.
Most notable flight: A Colombian military replacement for a government service that was canceled. Took off and landed from military bases - they actually provided better airport coffee and snacks than the commercial ones....
Most memorable flight: getting destroyed on an F Emirates experince DXB-BCN - me and alll fellow F pax arrived Spain barely able to walk, let alone hand over passports....
Shortest flight: just over 5 minutes - take off and land because someone left the cargo door open.
Longest flight: JFK-ICN with Asiana. (15+ hrs - bad headwinds) I loved it. In J, eating Korean cuisine like there was no tomorrow.....

So about 254762 miles

Come down softly when you finally land...

Just wandering
Fred

COG is only 179 from BOG......
I'll PM you if the plans to visit BOG in April work out.....

Segments: 71
Miles: 96,304
New country: Nil
New airlines: Lion Air, Wings Air
New airports: LOP, CNX
Shortest flight: DPS-LOP (147 Miles)

Had a pretty smooth year in travelling, only minor things like Lion Air cancelling a flight and put me on a later one with a tight connection at DPS. 45 min connection at BKK to CNX on a different PNR (but checked through). Just had to start googling transfer procedures at BKK as I have never done a INT-DOM connection at BKK. Was the easiest DOM-INT connection I have done so all good.

Didn't even need to re-check bags.

Only have a couple of boring DOM flights left

SYD-AKL is my most frequent route as well. Do you have a preferred airline on the AKL run?

What do you have against the Northern Territory? ;)

At last arrived home, 2am in the morning, jet lagged, coming off the biggest year ever for me.

Total miles; 285,747 (something in the last 3 numbers!!!)

Total sectors; 181

New countries; Norway

Milestone; Hit the 3,000,000 mile mark, next one is 5,000,000 km

Highlights; Furthest north Skelleftea, Sweden @ -15C and 2 foot of snow
Sitting with the Riot Squad in a Greek Premier League game
Being at the King of Thailand funeral

Best flight; The last one, HKG to MEL, no laptop no work! (also inaugural TG 350 into MEL)

Worst flight; IST to BKK. Client only paid Y and i could not upgrade. Worst was their Secretary thought she was doing the right thing and got me the exit row, but it was the middle seat! (cannot blame her). Still have shivers down the spine!

Frustrations; Don't know if it was all the travel, but notice the tourists from a certain "country" are getting overwhelming at some airports. Things like blocking the way as they stand in a group around a guide with a flag, or think moving walkways are there to hold meetings!!!!! BKK was shocking the other day.

Last comment; It was a very hard year, jumping on/off aircraft and effectively straight into work. Don't think i could survive another year doing the same rate. Flight Tracker shows I was in the air for 27 1/2 days. Add getting to/from airport @ about 2 hours each takes it to around 43 days. Along with this 26 nights were spent sleeping on the plane, i suppose saves on a hotel room!

Flying for work is now over for 2017. My biggest year by segments, with 65 in total, 40 on a Dash8. Mixed Y/J fare to UK via HKG/HEL with qf and ay was a highlight. HEL and the its lounge sauna was the only new port. Still 6 segments to go for personal travel, which will add BWT and DPO to new port list.

Oh, forgot to add;

Best lounge; TK at IST before the crowds

Worst lounge; SK at ARN terminal 4. You really have to be desperate when there are far more standing than sitting and the place is packed like a train at peak hour. And people were still coming in!
