Hmmm ... looks like the PDS has not yet been published.Where is the PDS? I haven't seen one yet nor have I seen the scale of charges.
....
A Product Disclosure Statement will be made available when the Qantas Cash prepaid facility is available, expected to be in the coming months, via qantas.com, and will also be given to applicants for the facility. A person should obtain and consider the Product Disclosure Statement before making any decisions about whether the prepaid facility is appropriate for them.
Hmmm ... looks like the PDS has not yet been published.
Will it be ready shortly after these meetings or are they also using them as opportunities to be asked questions by a pretty savvy bunch of travellers to allow some last minute fine tuning/tweaking before they settle all the elements of the card and release a PDS??
exactly.
we could play around with this all day...
1) can I use the card in 9 currencies? oh yes you can!
2) can I use the card overseas? oh yes you can!
etc etc etc.
thats the easy part and we already know all of that.
but what about the real questions?
3) how much are the fees? we can't tell you
4) what conversion rate will be applied? we can't tell you
5) what is the fee to simply take my money off me and load it onto the card? we can't tell you
6) will there be a monthly fee for inactivity on the card? (you know the ending to this by now...)
7) what is the charge for an over-the-counter withdrawal?
8) what is the overdraw charge?
9) what is the fee if I run out of one currency and you start to use another?
10) what is the fee if I decide to withdraw money in Australia?
are those questions generating excitement about the product? given this product comes from a company keen to make 'enhancements'... not for me. so what's the point?
from a PR perspective, you don't generally have a competition where it can generate negative thoughts about your product. you try and generate something positive... for example... in 25 words explain how you think this card will benefit you (possible answer: 'the free supplementary card will give me peace of mind when my children travel overseas and allow me to earn points on their spend!)
While I applaud Qantas for again giving members the chance to win a free lunch, I'm again saddened that I can't go. Next year, or at least after November, I'll very much be a contender! Congrats to winners.
As for Qantas CASH itself, I am very interested due to the fact I can't get a credit card, and using a debit card does not earn me points... so think of all the points I'm missing out on. I understand from the tidbits we've heard that it'll have up to 9 currencies and be very useful (up for debate) internationally, but as I'm a mainly domestic flyer I hope you don't forget about me when designing the fee structure
I'm happy to pay a few dollars a month to earn points when shopping at Woolworths, which others take for granted on their CC's they can apply and be approved for... but not much more than that, and I fear the fee structure might preclude me from using the card to it's full potential... to earn me some points!
Just a suggestion .....
see if you can get someone to give you a card with a very low credit limit and then per fund to get the points
worth a try
Don't have an income so makes it very tricky.
Qantas runs these events every now and then. It's a mutually beneficial event, with Qantas listening to feedback from some of their "power users", and we frequent flyers getting the chance to find out a few things. It is a shame about the 12 months thing. I have only just recently discovered this epic forum site. Oh well, I keep my eye out next year!

all I want to know is how much are the fees and charges associated with the card?
why do I need to enter a competition to ask those questions?
