Your chance to join Qantas Loyalty for lunch.

Should be a good lunch for the winners, and one of the last chances to enjoy to old location before the move in October. Neil's group did well at the Good Food Guide launch last night.

I believe the lunches are at Rockpool Bar &Grill in SYD and MEL.
It is Rockpool on George which is relocating.

Missed this thread heaving just returned from BKK on QF at an expedia rate.
Good luck to all those luck enough to be selected.

My only questions:
- How does this differ to the recently launched Virgin product
- What is the inbuilt FX 'spread' on this card

Unfortunately I suspect the answer will be not much and 3-3.5%.
With 10m cardholders, QF will just try and earn the 'convenience premium' from those who can't be bothered shopping for a better deal.

if you look at heritage bank's current offering the fees and charges are up to 11% of the total transaction.

this is made up as follows:
1% load fee
~3% currency conversion fee (buy rate being offered by heritage compared to the mid-market rate being offered by say 28 degrees)
5.95% additional charge if you run out of one pre-loaded currency and dip into another (for example you run out of € and dip into the £)

there are additional fees for withdrawals in Australia (2.95%), monthly fees for account inactivity (after 12 months) and a fee if you go into overdraft.

and a fee of $10 if you decide you want to close the card.

this might compare favourably if you currently have a credit card charging a foreign exchange margin anyway.

will be interesting to see if QF builds in, or even reduces, any of the margins above.

All discussion about the card (and features) should be posted on the other thread and existing questions (where they are the only content in the post) are being moved there.

This thread should now only be about the QF Loyalty lunches....so we await the decision.

With a dummy spit like that I'm guessing longevity of membership is the least of his/her concerns when it comes to getting a spot on said lunch or any future event.

Clearly he/she doesn't hold much weight in the intelligence of the AFF members if they really believe a lunch is enough to "buy" my opinion on a product/service.

Whacko, thanks for the assessment. Don't you think 'winning hearts and minds' is part of this freebie lunch program? Wonder if you went to the lunch then got a poor QF experience you may not post about it in the same way, if at all (when you otherwise might), thinking "Gee, that would be ungrateful" ? I reckon I've seen enough freebie attendance /post freebie postings on this forum to be confident that QF PR gets good value for money.

Qantas does a great line in PR. Pity about some of the booking and flying experiences of late.

Apparently not bass_ke...now to organise the change to my diary :o

I was fortunate to be online when it came in. Reply to PM sent rather hastily :D (so they couldn't recant).

Fantastic, some members names that I know and 2 that I have been looking to meet for a while (harveyk and blackcat20). I'm attending the MEL one, so don't forget to indicate which one in your replies. Then we can set up separate threads for attendees to meet at airports, QC, transport, etc.

Don't forget the SPAM filter dfcatch :o ;)
