I really hadn't thought of this before and in reality I'm not particularly keen on any aircraft, but if pushed I suppose my preference for long haul trips is the 388. It has grown on me over the last three or four years. I'm not overly keen on the Embraer EMB 120.

Long haul best would say 747 (I still love the Jumbo)
Long haul worst.... any AF (even 747)

Short haul best: not sure like the A319... (don't do a lot of short haul flights)
Short haul worst: - ATR72, the noisiest aircraft I have ever been on
- MD83, AZ flight, honestly thought it was going to fall apart

Have to be an SQ A340-500 ... if I'm on that plane, it means I'm definitely travelling in business class.

Other than that, I do like the air quality inside the A380 so it would be at the top of my list for long haul, but wouldn't want it for a short sector.

Worst, definitely between CRJ (cramped) and MD80 (noisy).

Fave - Commercial - 747. Solid and dependable
Worst - A dead heat between the 727 (we didn't say current airframes did we), and the Caribou. man those things are loud.
And what's really annoying in the Caribou was the engines would always be slightly out of synch with each other.

Best: QF's A380's are a smidge ahead of the 777. - the 777 is still a sweet machine, I wish QF would have got some.
Honourable mention to the 767. loved them when I flew AN, still like them on QF.

Worst: A320 & 737. no love from me; the same planes with the same sardine like feel.
Dishonourable mention to the A300, they just scare me.

Fokker f27 and f28 are sentimental favorites. Current commercials would be embraer 190 or even..... 767.

long haul fav - b747 there is something about them I love, prob has a lot to do with my first os trip was n an old b741
short haul fav - a330 provided no b747 option avail
very short haul fav - b767, will always chose a b767 flight over a b737 flight

type I dislike - b757 only been on one flight on one, but that was enough. Hated every second on that oversized b737.

also the comment was made about the b734's, I don't actually mind them, prior to the b738's starting to get avod, I would always book on a b734 if it was the choice between it or an 8. This was typically in Y.

I guess this depends upon the criteria. JB747 likes the B767 and I'm quite sure he has a soft spot for the A4 Skyhawk.
Mine are/were the Macchi, Mirage, Iroquois and S76 helicopter.

Favourite would have to be the A380. V impressed with the relative silence on board (though I very much doubt I'll see the front mini-cabin in J again on QF any time soon..)

I also rather like the 777-300 ER - having now had the pleasure of flighting in examples operated by both NZ and VA, I'm quite a fan. :)

Can't think of a specific plane I dislike at the moment - maybe any of them where I'm stuck in a lousy seat and not either earning or burning miles in the process of doing so.. ;)

Favourite: Another vote for the 767 - the best widebody for getting an aisle seat, and low risk of a middle seat + the spaciousness of a widebody on domestic routes. Will be sad when they're gone. The E190 is borderline - great layout but reliability pretty so so.

Least liked: A full 737-400. Fine when the flight isn't busy and the Platinum shadow does its job. Also a vote against the 777 in the higher density layouts e.g. 3 + 4 + 3 - way too many middle seats.

Why does everyone like the 767 so much???

Maybe I just associate them as new and ancient an I'll take new (737) anyday over old (767).
I believe they are more spacious and there is a greater chance that you will have a vacant seat next to you. Plus I do not mind having an outer aisle seat as there is only one other person next to you.

Compare to that to the full 734 SYD-BNE on Sunday with the only vacant seat being 5B and I was seated in 4C. The person in 4B had very wide shoulders and I did not have a very comfortable flight as I am very wide myself and tried to give him more room as every time I tried to sit back in my seat there was not enough room for both of us. Not sure why someone with broad shoulders would accept a middle seat like that and not try to improve on their seat allocation unless they had no choice or simply does not care.

And then these 2 morons seated in business class in front reclined during take off and landing. I saw the person in 3A recline her seat back as we were descending into BNE so I tapped on her seat and she forcefully put her seat back up after her seatmate had a word to her only to recline her seat again 1 minute later. This time the person in 4A tapped her and asked her to put her seat back up again. What I did not realise was these two morons had been reclined on ascent as well as when we got to the top they put their seats back again. Perhaps this is how they do things in Eastern Europe.

I'm honestly surprised that no-one has specifically said they hate the 734's yet?
I do not like them even in row 4 but unfortunately my luck the past 4 years has been select a flight 6 months in advance that is a 767 and then see it morph into a 738 and not long after morph into a 734. Extremely claustrophobic....

As posted, I like 734 aisle seats in any of the rows 1-6. If in the normal 12 J config, 4, 5 or 6 will do just fine thanks ...

Fave: B747, B767, Fokker 100, E190 and Metro! Least Fave: B738 & A320 Have a close look at the Y seating pitch and width plus chance of a middle seat.....

At present my favourite is also the 777.
But going back into the past my favourite plane trip was on a TAA DC3.
My worst trip was on a CAAC Tupolev(cant remember which model)flying PEK-XIY.My seat had only half a seatbelt,on takeoff it converted itself into a lay flat bed and I found my head in the lap of a Red army guy who reeked of garlic. And it went downhill from there.

B747 purely for sentimental reasons. It was the plane that I took my flight L/H flight in, as well as being the plane that first brought me to Australia. The A380 is nice but when it is a busy flight it is very uncomfortable. I also hate the seats in Y. They are very hard.

A very special place is my heart is for the Shorts 330/360. These were the first planes I every flew on and they were built in my hometown. Incredibly ugly and I am sure that they were noisy and cramped but as an 8 year old, they were amazing. We even got tea and sandwiches on board and the CC came around with sweets for landing.

I both like and hate the A320/319 for their use as buses. They are OK for short hops around Europe but not much else.
