Because I have had some "unusual" responses from Wineries, Im taking a little longer to sort this out. I have also discovered that the weekend of the 15th - 16th is looming better than the first two options.
this may in fact improve the options for some. Mrs GPH has been looking at accommodation costs in the town and the weekends we initially identified as being ideal have turned out to be a lot dearer. the issue is NZ labour Day weekend (21st - 22nd) and it would appear Melbourne Cup weekend is also dear.
so just as a heads up, im looking for a show of hands on the prospect of the weekend of 15th-16th.
all suggestions will be greatly received .

The unusual responses ended up being “ were not really looking to have groups visit for lunch”, and “we’re not open on a Sunday” . one winery told me that their group tour would come at a cost of $120.00 PP . so I am putting this on ice, I will make a trip over in the coming 12 months and reevaluate the whole thing, and maybe get some face to face time with the Wineries etc.

That's disappointing. I know for organising the Yarra Valley tour that wineries can be quite difficult to work with sometimes; they dont seem to understand the money they make by accepting bookings like ours.

I think that they deal with enough groups via the tour operators that they don't need or want the perceived hassle of dealing with groups booked by individuals due to the likelihood of cancellations.
