Wow, that's actually quite significant news (if the purported reasons are in any way true).

Will bring issues for Qatar (airline) as well as (potentially) World Cup 2022....

Wonder if DXB/AUH-DOH flights continue?

Yikes!

I've got a DOH>DXB & DXB>DOH>ESB flight coming up in September so I'll be keeping an eye on this.

I've got a DXB - DOH flight in 3 weeks!!!!!!

I have DOH-JNB in August which I'll watch with interest.

My CAI-DOH flights in October and November don't look so good right now...

I have a SIN - DOH - HEL trip in late July. Was quite looking forward to it until I read this post, though I think I'm certainly less impacted that some.

Just rang Qantas. They know nothing. Have tweeted. We have to be in Stockholm by certain date and booked as a J award - she said all they can give is available award seats - that don't exist!

... including one DOH-CAI over Saudi. And nothing on the QR web site as yet.

Interesting Qantas just called me back as they didn't feel I was given appropriate service. But still can't help me. Flying Qatar DXB - DOH - ARL.

I suspect you are not the only one. Would not be uncommon for people on oneworld itineraries to use this sector to link QF with QR's services to/from Europe.

Airspace is also denied for all flights in and out of Qatar. If you're flying on QR, your flight path will change considerably.

Flights to Europe and US should be mostly unaffected (flying through Iran and Turkey airspace), but for Africa and South America the routing will be interesting, I guess Oman and then south of Yemen.

I'm looking at alternatives to getting to Stockholm. We need to be there on a particular date just a couple of days later.

There is plenty of J availability on EK DXB-ARN in July

How much extra running time will this add to particular flights by destination or origin?

Well HUACA and I found a very helpful person. She looked at options. Have now rebooked the DXB-DOH-ARN leg to be direct DXB - ARN on EK in Y and on next day as it departs too early for our ex Aus arrival on same day. No J availability for dates we needed to fly on. Only 1 flight a day.

The good - we will arrive two days before we need to, break a long journey of 38 hours into two of 16 hours and 6 hours; and we receive $500 tax refund and 50,000 points. And of course no Doha issues. Shame we don't get to try Qatar J though and the Al Mourjan lounge. The bad - one day less in Stockholm - now only an afternoon and a full day then a part day before getting on a cruise; in Y for a six hour flight. But we will get there.

News reports coming in thick now and maybe signalling the end of Qatar airlines which would be dreadful.

Thank goodness Ramadan is over by arrival. We've been in Dubai before in July and at Ramadan and it's very very uncomfortable. And damnable hot.

At least we can get the F lounge in DXB on departure too.

Thankyou so much for alerting me to this issue which gave me the chance to sort things out before the avalance of travellers.

Wonder whether this will delay QR's planned launch to CBR in the next 12 months. Not that this is in any way the most significant outcome here...

I suspect it will get sorted out but it might take some time and I wasn't willing to risk it.
