A few phone camera shots for anyone considering Royal Jordanian as a carrier.
Needed to get from BKK to CDG. RJ was very well priced in J.

Let me start with the good: The food throught the journey was excellent. A good choice of mains and plently of grape juice (red, white & bubbles).
Service was 'cool' but efficient on the BKK to AMM leg and they never rejected any request for water or a bubbles top up. The seats are angled flats on the BKK to AMM leg and then standard recliner style on the AMM to CDG stretch. Both seats were very comfortable. Both planes were young and clean. The Amman lounge is very good (but not the toilets) The lounge itself is comfortable (with a pool table) and plently of space. There is also a well stock bar.
The service on AMM to CDG was very good and the CSM was very friendly talking about how she loves Paris etc. Meal service on both flights was a common entree and then a trolly with the mains was presented. You then picked you main protien and selected what veg you wanted. Same for dessert. It work very well.

The 'interesting': The Goon Squad sky marshals. They stick out like dogs b@lls. Ill fitting suits and sitting in the jump seats. But I guess they are there for a reason and are never intrusive. The Amman lounge food was average.

The Bad: The toilets in the Amman lounge are very poor indeed.

I could see the new airport being built and it looks like it will be very nice when finished.

Summary: Would I fly RJ again ? Yes indeed. The price is excellent and the overal package was well delivered. All flights were on time subject to ATC in BKK which delayed our push back by 15 mins, yet we landed 5 mins ahead of schedule in BKK.

No more pics.

I have been asked, and the pics don't show it, but on the A321 service from AMM to CDG there was a personal entertainment system in the seat (like on QF Mk2 Skybeds where it is in the centre).

Anyway, in summary. I would do it again for the money and the SCs. Why fly direct when you can connect (for the same money). Plus I didn't have to fly code share Air France.

I hope some of you find this useful. Safe & happy travels.

End.

Thanks for the TR. I have flown RJ a couple of times in J (HKG-BKK). Will be doing BKK-HKG again in March. I found RJ to be really good value, and of course the SCs helped!

The planes were nice and clean/fresh, the seats and entertainment options were fine, the service was good (but not overly warm I must say), the food was ok, and they weren't mean with the drinks.

And while not relevant....the livery is pretty nice IMHO.

Great TR!!

How was their OW status recognition?
Did your QFF status show on your boarding pass?

I know you were referring to the OP, but you just reminded me...

My boarding passes had me as OW Sapphire...even though I am Emerald. I questioned it, but all I got was a shrug. It didn't make any difference to my experience though (or FF points / SC earnings). I just used my platinum card to get into the CX first lounges at HKG (although they didn't immediately recognise RJ as OW!), and when in BKK there were no decent OW lounges open anyway.

I thought it was a bit strange though.

Were you a OW Sapphire (QFF Gold) when you first booked the tickets?

No, I was QFF platinum / OW Emerald at booking. Makes no sense, but no great harm done.

Perhaps the only thing I missed out on was a personalised greeting

Priority boarding was called which included OW Elites along with the J pax.
It showed as OWE on my BPs.

So there wasn't anything to really acknowledge as I had access to everything anyways.

In BKK I used the QF/BA first lounge vs the Thai J lounge (in BKK RJ use Thai as their ground agent).
I used the Thai lounge to see what it was like (with the invitations from BKK check-in) then moved to the QF/BA flounge.

In AMM ... they had signs up with OW elites being allowed in (plus J pax).

QF SCs & points took 48 hrs to come through without intervention from me. It all just worked.

Side note ... in the past I've needed them to check my luggage through to other OW airlines on different PNRs and again it all worked fine.

Great TR, I have a BKK-HKG return coming up in J so very timely. Agree on the livery, one of my favs

Mirrors our experience.Quite comfortable and I certainly reccomend it.We flew RJ BKK-AMM-IST-AMM-BKK.This was july last year and the J fare was ~ $2000.
Somehow i knew the new terminal would not be finished. Before we flew those on FT were saying at the beginning of 2012 that it would be finished in 2 months. We were there in July and again told it would be complete in 2 months.I guess it is still 2 months away from completion?

How much was this ticket?

Just had a look at the 28 Deg MC statement ... it was A$901.17 all up. I believe it was a promo / discount business class but not 100% sure now.
But it posted as full SCs which is what always matters.

Yes I think they work on Fiji-time. But having said that, when it is finally finished, I think it represents a good way into the EU at low cost (J) and full SC earn as they are a true OW member vs whatever is happening with QF-EK. For this little black duck, I'll stay with the OW members where possible as most of the time the OW system does work well enough.
